Justin Bannan
Justin Lewis Bannan (born April 18, 1979) is a former American football defensive tackle. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Colorado. Bannan also played for the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, and Detroit Lions. In 2019, he shot a woman in the shoulder, after being startled while hiding in a building suite before operating hours from what he believed was the Russian maffia due to paranoia symptoms stemming from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) On February 10th, 2022 he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for attempted murder without any evidence being allowed to be presented on his concussion history, medically established brain injury from his time in the NFL, or testimony from neurologists or CTE experts Early years Bannan graduated from Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, California in 1997 and was a letterman in football and basketball. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach.
