Beth Robinson
Beth Robinson (born March 6, 1965) is an American lawyer and judge from Vermont. She is a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and is the first openly lesbian judge to serve on any Circuit Court. Robinson served as an associate justice of the Vermont Supreme Court from 2011 to 2021. Robinson was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and she was raised and educated in Indiana. She graduated from Dartmouth College ( BA, 1986) and the University of Chicago Law School ( JD, 1989). After serving as a law clerk for a federal judge, Robinson joined Vermont's Langrock, Sperry & Wool law firm, where she was active on cases related to workers' compensation, personal injury, and constitutional law. Silas or Silvanus (; Greek: Σίλας/Σιλουανός; fl. 1st century AD) was a leading member of the Early Christian community, who according to the New Testament accompanied Paul the Apostle on his second missionary journey. Name and etymologies ''Silas'' is traditionally assumed to be the same as the ''Silvanus'' mentioned in four epistles. Some translations, including the New International Version, call him "Silas" in the epistles. The following is a list of all of the individuals who have served on the Supreme Court of Missouri. Missouri's Supreme Court had three judges from 1820 until 1872, when it was increased to five. Sam Dunn Robinson (March 21, 1899 – June 7, 1997)Arkansas CourtsA Self-Guided Tour of Justice Building Portraits(2016), p. 17. was a justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court from 1951 to 1965. Robinson was born in Chicot County, Arkansas. He joined the United States Army at the age 18 to serve in World War I. After the war, he returned to Arkansas and did agricultural work including herding cattle. In 1923, Robinson began studying at the Arkansas Law School. He graduated at the top of his class even though he had not received formal education beyond the third grade. He worked as a lawyer for the next 16 years. Robinson was elected as a Prosecuting Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit in 1940. He was elected an Associate Justice in 1950. He served as an Associate Justice until he retired in 1966. Jonathan Robinson (August 11, 1756November 3, 1819) was an American politician, lawyer, and judge from the state of Vermont who served as chief justice of the Vermont Supreme Court and a United States senator. Early life Robinson was born in Hardwick, Massachusetts on August 11, 1756, a son of Samuel Robinson (1707–1767) and Mercy (Leonard) Robinson (1714–1793). He was raised in Hardwick, and in 1761 he moved with his family to Bennington, in what would later become Vermont but was then governed as part of New Hampshire – the New Hampshire Grants. Robinson's father was an important leader in the New Hampshire Grants, and died while in England attempting to resolve a dispute over whether New Hampshire or New York had the right to grant land and town charters. John Sherman Robinson (December 17, 1880 – October 9, 1951) was an American track and field athlete, lawyer, judge, and chief justice of the Washington Supreme Court. Early life and education John was born in Mansfield, Ohio, to Samuel Radford Robinson (October 12, 1830- July 27, 1904), a berry grower who immigrated from Derbyshire, England, and Caroline "Mathia" Mottayaw (October 26, 1840 – June 17, 1907), a homemaker. He was the youngest of five boys, and his older brothers were farm laborers. John attended Mansfield High School, where he ran track and field. Robinson attended the University of Michigan and received his bachelor's degree in 1903. While at Michigan, Robinson was a member of the track and field team.
