James Holman (judge)
Sir Edward James Holman (born 21 August 1947) is a retired British judge of the High Court of England and Wales, assigned to the Family Division. He has been the Commodore of the Royal Yacht Squadron since 2021. Legal career Holman was called to the bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and was elected a bencher in 1995. He acted for the Queen's Proctor from 1980–91 and legal assessor for the Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (now the Nursing and Midwifery Council) from 1983-95. Holman has served as an officer of the Family Law Bar Association, as secretary 1988–92 and chairman 1992–95. In 1991, he was appointed a Queen's Counsel and a Crown Court Recorder in 1993. He was a member of the Family Proceedings Rules Committee from 1991 and of the Supreme Court (now the Senior Courts) Procedure Committee from 1992, leaving both committees in 1995. Jesse Lynch Holman
Jesse Lynch Holman (October 24, 1784 – March 28, 1842) was an Indiana attorney, politician and jurist, as well as a novelist, poet, city planner and preacher. He helped to found Indiana University, Franklin College and the Indiana Historical Society. He was one of the first three Justices of the Indiana Supreme Court and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Indiana. Education and career Born on October 24, 1784, near Danville, District of Kentucky, Virginia (now Kentucky), Holman grew up on the frontier. He read law and was admitted to the Kentucky bar on September 2, 1805.Blake, p. 26–27. He entered private practice in Pointe William (now Carrollton), Kentucky from 1805 to 1811, also practicing in New Castle, Kentucky and Frankfort, Kentucky. List Of Judges Of The Supreme Court Of Missouri
The following is a list of all of the individuals who have served on the Supreme Court of Missouri. Missouri's Supreme Court had three judges from 1820 until 1872, when it was increased to five. In 1890 the number of judges was increased to seven, which is still the standard. Only the Chief Justice is referred to as "justice" while other members are referred to as "judge."
