''Just Visiting'' is a compilation album by Australian progressive rock band Cog, released on 16 August 2008. The album is a compilation – re-release of the 2002 EPs ''Just Visiting Part One'' and ''Just Visiting Part Two'' as a full album – using the combined track listing but with the original long versions of "Bondi" and "Moshiach". In April 2003 both parts appeared on the ARIA Heavy Rock & Metal Singles Chart, with ''Part One'' peaking at No. 14 and ''Part Two'' reaching No. 4. Lucius Borich remastered the album at Studios 301. MGM Distribution (Metropolitan Groove Merchants) is the largest independent distributor of Australian music and music related merchandise and was established in April 1998 by Sebastian Chase. MGM Distribution was specifically set up as a distribution hub to service independent labels and artists. MGM Distribution is totally focused on a specific agenda - dealing with retail, promoting its releases to retail, ensuring that orders are filled correctly and dispatched expediently. MGM is not a label and does not sign artists. MGM as a distributor requires that the labels market their releases to the media to create demands that causes sell through at retail. Sharing Space
''Sharing Space'' is the second full-length album by Australian rock band Cog, released on 12 April 2008. The album was, once again, produced by Sylvia Massy in Weed, California. The album peaked at number 2 on the ARIA album chart. At the J Awards of 2008, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. Background Following the success of the previous album, Cog once again chose to record the follow-up at RadioStar Studios in Weed, California with Sylvia Massy. Comfortable with the studio space, the band expected a fluid process of recording the album in only 4 months, however a label takeover during production left Cog and producer Massy casting about for more than 8 months. ''Sharing Space'' was released exactly three years after its predecessor. Commenting on the ordeal, drummer Lucius Borich said "Sometimes you have to struggle through in order to come up with the goods musically. Otherwise it's not going to have any validity or longevity." Just Visiting (album Series)
''Just Visiting'' is a two-part 2002 extended play series by Australian rock group, Cog. Besides vocals, it was recorded in the late 1990s. Guitar and drums were recorded at Stage Door Rehearsal Studio, in Alexandria, while bass guitar was recorded by drummer Lucius Borich, at his home on a TASCAM 8-track portastudio, before Luke Gower joined the band on bass guitar. These tracks served as demonstration recordings that had them booked for performance, and eventually signed to booking agent TPA, through Owen Orford. Frustrated at the lack of label interest, Orford, despite his lack of experience with record labels started his own to release the ''Just Visiting'' EPs, on Little Samurai Records. ''Just Visiting Part 1'' was issued on 21 January 2002 on the MGM Distribution label, which peaked at No. 14 on the ARIA Heavy Rock & Metal Singles Chart. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. Lucius Borich
Lucius Borich (born 1971) is an Australian musician, best known as the drummer for the band Cog, and previously the drummer in funk metal band Juice and in The Hanging Tree as well as Floating Me. He currently plays and is working on new rock outfit The Nerve. Biography Lucius has been playing music since the age of 3. He was given his first drum kit by two of Australia's best known drummers from the 70's, Keith Barber and Johnny Dick. Lucius's father's band at the time was The Party Boys, with guest stars Doane Perry (Jethro Tull) and Richard Clapton, who invited young Lucius to play with them. At age 14, Lucius was given the opportunity to perform and tour around Australia with the Kevin Borich Express for a year. Shortly after, he left school and decided to pursue drumming full-time. Flynn Gower
Flynn Gower is an Australian vocalist, composer and guitarist, currently the frontman of The Occupants. He is best known as frontman of the rock band Cog, which disbanded in 2010. He was also a guitarist in now-defunct funk metal band The Hanging Tree. Biography Gower initiated his career in the early- to mid-90s forming the funk metal band The Hanging Tree, which became one of the most popular bands in the Sydney live circuit. After a few years developing a following through extensive touring, the band released a debut, self-titled album in 1996. Shortly before the recording of this album, Lucius Borich, a childhood friend of Gower joined the band on drums, after leaving ARIA Award nominated grunge band Juice. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand.
