John McPhail (director)
John McPhail is a Scottish film director and screenwriter. Life and career McPhail studied Cinematography at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. During his time there he met and formed a close working relationship with Tyler Collins and Andrew Lanni. After graduating from the Conservatoire he worked on the BBC television series '' Waterloo Road'' and was assistant camera operator on the film ''Up There'' by Zam Salim. In 2013 he formed his own production company Worrying Drake Productions and produced a trilogy of short films with Collins and Lanni to produce a trilogy of short comedy films; ''Notes'' was a romantic comedy about a pair of roommates whose relationship develops through a series of post it notes. '' V for Visa'' and ''Doug & Steve's Big Holy Adventure'' completed the comedy trilogy. The Scottish Short Film Festival
The Scottish Short Film Festival was an independent film festival which has taken place annually in Scotland from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2017, the festival was known as The Raptor Filmz Short Scottish Film Festival until the event was rebranded in 2018. History and format The festival was set up in 2012 by Scottish filmmaker Chris Young who is the company director of Raptor Filmz Ltd in West Lothian. The aim of the festival is to promote short Scottish films with a view of potentially setting up a distribution deal with filmmakers. The first festival took place in Glasgow at the Grosvenor Cinema and was hosted by Scottish actor David Anderson. With a desire to bring the festival closer to home, the festival was moved to the Howden Park Centre in Livingston where the date of the festival was also moved to January 2014 rather than December 2013. Andrew Lanni
Andrew Lanni is a Scottish Film producer from Kirkwall in Orkney. He has also worked on various films as an assistant director. Life and career Andrew Lanni studied Digital Film & Television at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. During his time here, he worked as a producer on the film ''The Taxidermist'' which was later nominated for the Best Fiction accolade at the 2012 British Academy Scotland New Talent Awards. It also was nominated again for the Best Fiction accolade at the student awards ceremony run by the Royal Television Society. In 2013, he was reunited with his fellow students John McPhail and Tyler Collins for the short film ''Notes'' in which Lanni was the producer. Together with McPhail, the pair pulled in a lot of favour from friends and family in order to gain equipment, locations and crew to make the film.
