"Just Play Music!" is a song by English band Big Audio Dynamite, released in May 1988 as the first single from their third studio album, '' Tighten Up, Vol. 88'' (1988). The edit of "Just Play Music!" omits Don Letts' rapping from the outro and some of the samples. In the US, it was the second song to top '' Billboards then-new Modern Rock songs chart. A heavily edited version of the single's B-side, "Much Worse", is used as the introduction of WBAI's talk radio programme " Off the Hook". Big Audio Dynamite
Big Audio Dynamite (later known as Big Audio Dynamite II and Big Audio, and often abbreviated BAD) were an English band, formed in London in 1984 by Mick Jones, former lead guitarist, and co-lead vocalist of the Clash. The band mixed various musical styles, incorporating elements of punk rock, dance music, hip hop, reggae, and funk. After releasing a number of well-received studio albums and touring extensively throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Big Audio Dynamite broke up in 1997. In 2011, the band embarked on a reunion tour. Alternative Airplay is a record chart that ranks the most-played songs on American modern rock radio stations. Published by the music industry magazine ''Billboard'', it was created in the midst of the growing popularity of alternative music on rock radio in the late 1980s. As less-established alternative acts were receiving minimal exposure on album-oriented rock (AOR) radio stations, their labels turned to modern rock stations for airplay. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.
