Jurie Els
Jurie Els is a South African singer with a great number of albums and singles to his credit. He is owner of Stetson Music. Between 1994 and 2003, he was an artist and music producer with Sony, Johannesburg, South Africa. Els started singing professionally in 1994 after winning the popular South African TV quiz programme ''Noot vir Noot'' in 1991. He wrote the lyrics to hundreds of South African songs recorded by some of the most popular artists including Sonja Herholdt, Rina Hugo, Gé Korsten, Carike Keuzenkamp, Bobby Angel, Robbie Klay, OTH, Joanna Field, Caroline du Preez, Nadine and Patricia Lewis. He has to date 37 CD and DVD releases and total sales of over half a million units. Most of his albums were released on BMB and later Sony BMG. Noot Vir Noot
''Noot vir Noot'' (Afrikaans for "Note for Note", i.e. music-note for a cash-note) is an Afrikaans language musical quiz show broadcast on SABC 2 on South African television. It is the longest continually running television game show in South Africa and Africa. The show was first broadcast in 1991 and was presented by Johan Stemmet, who retired on 27 January 2019. The production company, which also owns the format, is Stemmburg Television, named after its founders, Stemmet, and former musical leader Johan van Rensburg. As of season 44, which premiered on 15 August 2019 with a new format and style, the show is hosted by musician Emo Adams, with resident DJ, DJ Shelly (Rochelle de Bruyn) providing musical clues, replacing the band. Gé Korsten
Gérard Korsten (popularly known as Gé) (6 December 1927 - 29 September 1999) was a South African opera tenor and actor who had a great influence on Afrikaans culture. Born in Schiedam, as the youngest of eight children, Korsten and his family emigrated to South Africa when he was nine years old. He married Elna Burger and had five children, among them renowned Conducting, conductor and violinist Gérard Korsten. Career Initially he worked as an electrician, but from the age of 20, started singing in choirs. However, he received his first formal vocal training in 1952, when he was well into his 20s, studying under Adelheid Armhold at the South African College of Music. In 1955 he moved to Pretoria, where he was one of the founder members of the Pretoria opera company. In 1956, he debuted as Canio in Ruggero Leoncavallo's ''Pagliacci''. Patricia Lewis (born 22 September 1967) is a South African singer, actress and television presenter. Career Music Lewis's debut album, ''Don't Tempt Me'' was released in 1992. "Ek Is Lief Vir Jou" which was released in 1997, achieved sales of 125,000. Patricia was rewarded the 1st Artist in the history of South African music that could achieve the number of sales. "Wie Sou Jou Kon Liefhê Soos Ek" reached gold status on the day it was released in 1997. Hestrie Cloete
Hestrie Cloete OIS (née Storbeck; born on 26 August 1978) is a former South African professional high jumper. Her foremost achievements were winning two world championships and two silver medals at the Olympic Games. Career Cloete was discovered at the age of 13 by her long-time coach Martin Marx, and trained at the Lichtenburg High School early in her career. She was quickly found to have a very strong will, which had given other coaches trouble while coaching her. Hestrie Cloete had always put a great significance in maintaining a strong mind, and explained that she finds much of that strength in her faith. In 2003, she was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver (OIS) by South African president Thabo Mbeki for excellence in her sports performances. Robbie Klay
Robbie Klay (born June 20, 1986) is a South African singer, songwriter, television and theatre stage actor. He sings in Afrikaans and English in the pop, rock and country genres. Career Klay began singing at age 5 becoming a child performer. His debut album was released when he was just nine and was signed to BMG, later Sony BMG. He toured Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria. He appeared at a number of notable art festivals including the Margate Music Festival in KwaZulu-Natal, and later as an adult performer at the Annual Afrikaans Music Festival. Valiant Swart (born Pierre Nolte, 25 November 1965), is a South African musician, Afrikaans folk rock singer-songwriter, and actor from Wellington. Career Born in Wellington, he resided in Stellenbosch. In 1977, at 11 years old, Valiant was given a guitar by his father and taught himself to play songs from artists like George Baker and Joe Dolan. Two years later he owned his first electric guitar. Alan Garrity is a musician who had a number of hits in South Africa and Rhodesia. He had his first hit with ''Put Your Hand in the Hand'' which was No 1 on the Springbok Top 20 chart for four weeks in 1971. This was followed up by ''I Need Someone'' which reached No 2 on Springbok Top 20 and spent 33 weeks on the charts and won the 1972 South African Recording Industry (SARI) Award for Best Song of the Year.
