Juozas Žemaitis, M.I.C., (30 August 1926 – 5 October 2021) was a Lithuanian Roman Catholic prelate and member of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. He served as the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vilkaviškis from 1991 until his retirement in October 2002. Žemaitis was born on 30 August 1926 in Sparviniai, Šakiai District Municipality, Lithuania. He was ordained as a Catholic priest on 25 September 1949. Bishop emeritus Juozas Žemaitis died in Marijampolė, Lithuania Lithuania (; lt, Lietuva ), officially the Republic of Lithuania ( lt, Lietuvos Respublika, links=no ), is a country in the Baltic region of Europe. Congregation Of Marian Fathers
The Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary ( la, Congregatio Clericorum Marianorum ab Immaculata Conceptionis Beatissimae Virginis Mariae) is a Catholic male clerical religious congregation founded, 1670, in Poland. It is also known as Marians of the Immaculate Conception. Its members add the nominal letters M.I.C. after their names to indicate membership in the Congregation. The Congregation of about 500 priests and brothers has convents in 19 countries on 6 continents. Marians pledge support to the Pope and follow the official teachings of the Catholic Church and aim to spread devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception, pray for the souls in purgatory and undertake a variety of apostolic work.
