Juno Roxas
Juno Roxas (born 4 May 1967) is an Australian musician and actor. Life and career Roxas was one of the founding members of glam metal band, Roxus (1987–1993). The group released an album in 1991, titled '' Nightstreet'' which peaked at number 5 on the ARIA charts. In 1989, Roxas starred in the Australian AFI award nominated feature film, ''Mull'' and recorded versions of " The Wanderer", "Jingle Bell Rock" and "All Right Now" for the film's soundtrack. Roxas launched his solo career in 1993 on the Melodian label with the single "Almost Summer" and album, ''Far From Here'' 1994. Neither impacted on the ARIA chart. In 1998 Roxas appeared on the Mushroom Records 25th anniversary album, '' Mushroom 25 Live: The Concert of the Century'', and played the accompanying concert performing "Where Are You Now?". Melodian
Melodian Records was an Australian independent record label founded in 1988 by record producer and music journalist Ian Meldrum with Michael Gudinski and Amanda Pelman. The name ''Melodian'' is a combination of 'melody' and Meldrum and Ian. Background In July 1987, Australian music television show ''Countdown'' ended. Meldrum had hosted the show since its induction in 1974. Meldrum wanted to start a record label as he felt "so many young pop acts weren't getting a go". The first two signings were Indecent Obsession (a pop band from the Gold Coast) and Roxus (a rock band from Melbourne). The first album released on the label was Indecent Obsession's '' Spoken Words'' in November 1989. It peaked in Australia at number 28. Jingle Bell Rock
"Jingle Bell Rock" is an American Christmas song first released by Bobby Helms in 1957. Since its release, it has received frequent airplay in the United States during every Christmas season since then. "Jingle Bell Rock" was composed by Joseph Carleton Beal (1900–1967) and James Ross Boothe (1917–1976), although both Helms and session guitarist on the song Hank Garland disputed this (see Authorship controversy section below). Beal was a Massachusetts-born public relations professional and longtime resident of South Ocean Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Boothe was an American writer in the advertising business. Helms recordings "Jingle Bell Rock" has been performed by many, but Helms' first version from 1957 produced by Paul Cohen is the best known. The song's title and some of its lyrics are an extension of the old Christmas standard, "Jingle Bells". Patrick Hart Cash (born 27 May 1965) is an Australian former professional tennis player. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 4 in May 1988 and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 6 in August 1988. Upon winning the 1987 singles title at Wimbledon, Cash climbed into the stands to celebrate, starting a tradition that has continued ever since. "The Wanderer" is a song written by Ernie Maresca and originally recorded by Dion, released on his 1961 album ''Runaround Sue''. The song, with a 12-bar blues-base verse and an eight-bar bridge, tells the story of a travelling man and his many loves. The song is ranked number 243 on the ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. History Maresca had co-written Dion's previous number-one hit, "Runaround Sue", but originally intended "The Wanderer" to be recorded by another group, Nino and the Ebb Tides. They passed on it in favor of another Maresca song, so Dion was given it as the B-side of his follow-up single, "The Majestic", a song which his record company had chosen for him. ''Mull'' is a 1988 Australian drama film directed by Don McLennan. The film is based on the popular 1986 book, ''Mullaway'' by Bronwen 'Bron' Nichols. Plot A sixteen-year-old teenage girl ( Nadine Garner) is forced to care for her family, when her mother ( Sue Jones) finds out she is dying of Hodgkin’s disease. The family consists of her father ( Bill Hunter) a reformed alcoholic and recently born-again Christian, her heroin-dabbling closet gay older brother (Craig Morrison), and two trying younger siblings (Bradley Kilpatrick and Kymara Stowers) all packed into a rented flat in the Melbourne bayside suburb of St Kilda.
