Junna Tsukii
(born September 30, 1991) is a Filipino-Japanese karateka. Representing the Philippines, she won the gold medal in the women's kumite 50kg event at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, United States. Early life and education Junna Tsukii was born in Pasay, Philippines on September 30, 1991. She was born to Shin Tsukii, a Japanese coach, and Lilia Villanueva, a Filipina. Junna is the second eldest among three children. She moved to Japan when she was three years old. She went to a junior high school in Kansai She studied at Takushoku University in Tokyo, Japan. She would obtain a teacher's license for social studies and went back to her alma mater in Kansai to teach. Career Tsukii took up karate at age seven joining her own father's dojo in Japan. She would rise to become a national champion in Japan when she was on her second year in junior high school and selected to represent the country internationally. She won the gold medal in the Karate at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's 55 kg, women's 55kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. 2021 Karate World Olympic Qualification Tournament
The Olympics Karate 2020 Qualification Tournament was held from 11 to 13 June, 2021. The event took place in AccorHotels Arena sports hall, located in Paris, France. The tournament consisted of four categories for both men and women, as determined for Tokyo 2020. Each NOC had the opportunity to register one athlete for each of the eight categories, with exception to any category where they already have an athlete qualified for Tokyo 2020 through the Olympic Standing of May 2021. The four categories for both men and women included Kata, as well as three other classes created from the combining of the remaining five ( WKF) weight categories. The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 30th Southeast Asian Games, or the 30th SEA Games, and commonly known as Philippines 2019, was the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial regional multi-sport event which was held in the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019.
