Junius Podrug
Junius Podrug (born 1947) is an American author and lawyer. He was a defense attorney on the Chippendales dancers' federal murder and wrongful death legal cases. His fiction and non-fiction books have been published in twenty-eight countries under his own and four other names. His first novel, ''Frost of Heaven'', was selected as Best First Novel by the ''Rocky Mountain News'' Unreal World book awards. Biography Podrug was born in Nevada City, California, in 1947. He is the son of Mate, a miner, and Angela, a hotel maid. He is married to Hildegard Krische. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a B.A. in political science, and McGeorge School of Law with a J.D.. He practiced law in Sacramento and Beverly Hills before becoming a full time writer. Nevada City, California
Nevada City (originally, ''Ustumah'', a Nisenan village; later, Nevada, Deer Creek Dry Diggins, and Caldwell's Upper Store) is the county seat of Nevada County, California, United States, northeast of Sacramento, southwest of Reno and northeast of San Francisco. Harold Robbins
Harold Robbins (May 21, 1916 – October 14, 1997) was an American author of popular novels. One of the best-selling writers of all time, he wrote over 25 best-sellers, selling over 750 million copies in 32 languages. Early life Robbins was born Harold Rubin in New York City, the son of Frances "Fannie" Smith and Charles Rubin. His parents were well-educated Jewish emigrants from the Russian Empire, his father from Odessa and his mother from Neshwies (Nyasvizh), south of Minsk. Robbins later falsely claimed to be a Jewish orphan who had been raised in a Catholic boys' home. Instead he was raised by his father, a pharmacist, and his stepmother, Blanche, in Brooklyn. Robbins dropped out of high school in the late 1920s to work in a variety of jobs, including errand boy, bookies' runner, and inventory clerk in a grocers. ''Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine'' is a bi-monthly American digest size fiction magazine specializing in crime fiction, particularly detective fiction, and mystery fiction. Launched in fall 1941 by Mercury Press, ''EQMM'' is named after the fictitious author Ellery Queen, who wrote novels and short stories about a fictional detective named Ellery Queen. From 1993, EQMM changed its cover title to be ''Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine'' (without the 's), but the table of contents still retains the full name. Background Ellery Queen was the pseudonym of the team of Frederic Dannay and Manfred B. Lee, who had been writing under the name since 1929.
