Junior Women's Hockey League
The Junior Women's Hockey League is an ice hockey league established in 2007 by Bill Driscoll and Kush Sidhu, coaches of North American Hockey Academy and the Washington Pride, respectively, in order to provide opportunities for young females to develop into collegiate student-athletes. U19, U16 and U14 divisions are sanctioned by the JWHL. History A successful league since its first season, the JWHL has seen hundreds of players sign with NCAA Division I or Division III schools since 2007. Over 20 JWHL players have skated for the U.S., Canadian, Czech, and Japanese Under-18 National teams. The JWHL was developed to bring together teams that regularly produce NCAA calibre players. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Ridley College (also known as RC, Ridley) is a private boarding and day university-preparatory school located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, 20 miles (32 km) from Niagara Falls. Jaycee Gebhard
Jaycee Gebhard (born June 2, 1999) is a Canadian ice hockey centre, currently playing with Brynäs IF Dam of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). Selected in the first round, 6th overall in the 2020 NWHL Draft, she was the first ever draft pick of the Toronto Six of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Annie Pankowski
Annie Pankowski (born November 4, 1994) is an American women's ice hockey player with the PWHPA and the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was the first California born and trained player to make the United States women's national under-18 ice hockey team. Playing career Across 154 NCAA games, Pankowski put up 206 points. She took leave for the 2017-18 season to train with the American Olympic team. She was a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist three years in a row from 2016 to 2019. She was drafted 1st overall by the Metropolitan Riveters in the 2018 NWHL Draft, but has yet to make an appearance for the club. In May 2019, she joined the PWHPA, after the collapse of the CWHL. Haley Rae Skarupa (born January 3, 1994) is an American ice hockey player with the PWHPA and the American national team. Playing career After graduating from high school, Skarupa joined Boston College, where both her parents had studied. Across four seasons in the NCAA, she scored 244 points in 144 games, the second highest scorer in Boston College history, for both men and women. She was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in both 2015 and 2016. In the 2015 NWHL Draft, she was selected by the New York Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).On April 26, 2016, Skarupa's draft rights were traded to the Connecticut Whale by the Riveters for Michelle Picard. Edge Ice Arena
The Edge Ice Arena includes ''The Edge on John Street'', ''The Water's Edge Aquatic Center'', and The ''Edge II Ice Arena'' a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena located in Bensenville, Illinois. It had been used as the official training facility and practice arena for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League before the team built a new downtown Chicago training facility. Kohl Center
The Kohl Center is an arena and athletic center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, United States. The building, which opened in 1998, is the home of the university's men's basketball and ice hockey teams, and the women's basketball team. MedStar Capitals Iceplex is the practice arena of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. The highest ice rink above street-level in the United States, it is located on the eighth floor atop the parking garage adjoining the Ballston Quarter in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington County, Virginia. Opened in 2006, the facility, which is owned by Arlington County and leased to the Capitals, houses two full-NHL-sized ice rinks with seating for 1,200, a training center, a proshop, and offices for staff of both the Capitals and the WNBA's Washington Mystics.
