''Junge Roemer'' (''Young Romans'') is the second album by Austrian pop rock artist Falco, released in 1984. Production and success The album was a No. 1 hit in his native Austria. The title track was a hit single there as well as in Switzerland, and most notably in Spain, where it peaked at No. 2. Still, the project was considered a relative disappointment compared with the international number one success of the breakthrough hit single, " Der Kommissar", from his previous album, ''Einzelhaft''. This inspired him to change producers and incorporate more English phrases for titles and choruses, which resulted in a trio of worldwide hits two years later with "Rock Me Amadeus", "Vienna Calling" and "Jeanny". While the phrase is written "Junge Römer" in standard German, the title of Falco's album and single in both German and English pressings is "Junge Roemer", to make the product more easily understandable worldwide. Johann "Hans" Hölzel (; 19 February 1957 – 6 February 1998), better known by his stage name Falco, was an Austrian singer and musician. Falco had several international hits including " Der Kommissar" (1981), "Rock Me Amadeus", "Vienna Calling", " Jeanny", " The Sound of Musik", " Coming Home (Jeanny Part II, One Year Later)", and posthumously " Out of the Dark". "Rock Me Amadeus" reached No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' charts in 1986, making him the only artist in history whose principal language was German, to score a ''vocal'' number-one hit in the United States. "" (; "The Commissioner") is a song recorded by Austrian artist Falco in 1981. The song was written by Robert Ponger and Falco. It reached the top of the charts in many European countries. It was covered in 1982 with greater success in other countries by English group After the Fire. Background "Der Kommissar" was written by producer Robert Ponger and intended for Reinhold Bilgeri. Bilgeri rejected it, as he felt the song was too soft, so Falco reworked the song for himself instead. Falco wanted to release "Helden von heute" as the main side (A-side), but the record company wanted "Der Kommissar" to be released, because they felt it had more potential. The record company decided upon a double A-side release and was vindicated when "Der Kommissar" reached No. 1 in German-speaking countries in January 1982. The Longplayer was published on Falco's 50th birthday. It was released in two versions. "Jeanny" is a song by Austrian singer Falco, released in December 1985 as the third single from his third studio album, ''Falco 3'' (1985). It was written and composed by Falco and Rob and Ferdi Bolland, who also produced the song. It was the third song released as a single out of the album in 1986. Controversial due to its lyrics, it nonetheless became topped the charts in numerous European countries.
