''Jump on It'' is the fourth studio album by American hard rock band Montrose (band), Montrose. It is the second Montrose album to feature singer Bob James (rock singer), Bob James and keyboardist Jim Alcivar, and features bassist Randy Jo Hobbs on three songs. The remainder of the bass parts were supplied by Jim Alcivar via the keyboard and there was no bassist on the ''Jump on It'' tour. Jack Douglas (record producer), Jack Douglas produced the album. ''Jump on It'' was the band's third highest-charting release, reaching No. 118 on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Billboard 200, 200 in October 1976. Montrose (band)
Montrose was an American hard rock band formed in 1973 and named after guitarist and founder Ronnie Montrose. The band's original lineup featured lead vocalist and frontman Sammy Hagar, who later found greater success as a solo artist and as the lead singer of Van Halen. Rounding out the original foursome were bassist Bill Church and drummer Denny Carmassi. The band experienced moderate success before disbanding in early 1977. History Prior to forming the band Montrose, guitarist Ronnie Montrose had been a successful session musician, playing (along with future Montrose bassist Bill Church) on Van Morrison's ''Tupelo Honey'' album produced by Ted Templeman, and on albums by Beaver & Krause and Herbie Hancock. Jim Alcivar is an American keyboard and synthesizer player and sound engineer. He is most noted for his connection to guitarist Ronnie Montrose and appearing in his bands Montrose and Gamma and on his first solo album ''Open Fire''. Hipgnosis were an English art design group based in London, that specialised in creating album cover artwork for rock musicians and bands. Their commissions included work for Pink Floyd, T. Rex, the Pretty Things, Black Sabbath, UFO, 10cc, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Scorpions, The Nice, Paul McCartney & Wings, the Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Electric Light Orchestra, Rainbow, Styx and Al Stewart. Lauren Wood (born Ilene Rappaport in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), also known as Chunky, is an American singer-songwriter, voice-over artist, and producer. Her 1989 single "Fallen" was used in the 1990 movie ''Pretty Woman'', even though it was recorded eight years earlier. In 1979 she recorded "Please Don't Leave", a duet with singer Michael McDonald. Biography Wood's career began in the mid-1960s when she formed a band called Rebecca and the Sunnybrook Farmers. In 1972, she provided back-up vocals on Frank Zappa's album ''The Grand Wazoo''. Daniel Earl Hartman (December 8, 1950 – March 22, 1994) was an American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Among songs he wrote and recorded were " Free Ride" as a member of the Edgar Winter Group, and the solo hits "Relight My Fire", "Instant Replay", "I Can Dream About You", "We Are the Young" and " Second Nature". "I Can Dream About You", his most successful song, reached No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1984 and No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in 1985. Denny Carmassi (born April 30, 1947) is an American drummer most notable for playing with many rock bands. Biography Carmassi was born into a family of drummers; his father, his uncle, and his brother each played the drums. Some of Denny's earliest memories are his father rehearsing after work with his band in the kitchen of their home. Occasionally they allowed young Denny Carmassi to sit in with them. His father exposed him to great drummers, including Buddy Rich, Jimmy Vincent and Richard Goldberg. Then Denny listened the radio and discovered several drummers like Earl Palmer, D.J.
