David Jull
David Francis Jull (4 October 1944 – 13 September 2011) was an Australian politician. He was a long-serving Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Division of Bowman, Queensland, from 1975 to 1983 and Fadden, Queensland, from 1984 to 2007. Jull was born in Kingaroy, Queensland, and was educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School and the University of Queensland. He was an announcer on radio and television from 1963 to 1965 and then a director of television station TVQ, Brisbane until he entered politics. He was elected at the 1975 general election, but defeated in 1983. He was Deputy General Manager of the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation 1983–84. Jull was reelected to parliament at the 1984 election. He was a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry 1989–94, and was Minister for Administrative Services 1996–97. Albert Jull
Albert Edward Jull (6 December 1864 – 24 September 1940) was a New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party, the United Party and from 1938 the National Party. Canada Jull was born in Fort Eria, Canada West, in 1864. He received his education in Brantford at various public schools. Life in New Zealand He came to New Zealand with his parents in 1877. He arrived in Waipawa in 1881, for some years was engaged in store-keeping, and subsequently established himself in the brewing industry. Jull was chairman of the Waipawa County Council, was elected president of the New Zealand Counties Association in 1901, was for some years chairman of the Waipawa Town Board and of the District Hospital Board, and in 1894 was president of the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Association. Roberta Jull
Roberta Henrietta Margaritta Jull (née Stewart, 16 August 1872 in Glasgow, Scotland – 6 March 1961 in Subiaco, Western Australia) was a medical doctor who, spurred by poor living conditions and high infant mortality, worked towards social reform. Early life Roberta Stewart was born in Glasgow, the second of four children of Isabella Henrietta (née Fergusson) and Robert Stewart, a minister of the Free Church in Lisbon. Roberta was educated in London and Scotland, returning to Portugal to care for her mother, who died in 1890. Her father encouraged her to achieve her educational ambitions in medicine, and, following her elder brother, with another brother attended Glasgow University. Women were excluded from lectures for male students, instead attending Queen Margaret College and the Royal Infirmary. Margaret Jull Costa
Margaret Elisabeth Jull Costa OBE, OIH (born 2 May 1949) is a British translator of Portuguese- and Spanish-language fiction and poetry, including the works of Nobel Prize winner José Saramago, Eça de Queiroz, Fernando Pessoa, Paulo Coelho, Bernardo Atxaga, Carmen MartÃn Gaite, Javier MarÃas, and José Régio. She has won the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize more times than any other translator. Early life Costa was born in Richmond upon Thames in 1949. Education She earned an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Portuguese from the University of Bristol before receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to Stanford University, where she achieved a Master of Arts. Writing career In recent years she has been noted for her work in translating the novels of José Saramago for which she won a number of awards. Jack Jull
Jack C. Jull (died 1920) was an English amateur footballer. He was one of the founding members of Hotspur Football Club later to become Tottenham Hotspur and one of those most influential in the club's development during the 1880s and 1890s. Career According to the club's website, Jull "was regarded as one of its finest players of the late Victorian era". He usually played for the team at full-back. It is also recorded that in his earlier days with the club, and in particular during 1882 he was still at the time attending boarding school so was not always available for fixtures. Despite his early absences, Jack's career was one of 'firsts'. He made his first appearance against Brownlow Rovers on 6 October 1883, which Spurs won 9–0, and was the first game of the club to be reported in a local newspaper, The Tottenham and Edmonton Weekly Herald.
