Julius Natterer
Julius Natterer, (December 5, 1938 – October 25, 2021), was a German engineer and professor of wood construction at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. Career Julius Natterer studied at the Technical University of Munich, where he graduated in 1965. He then stayed there for nine years as an assistant. During this time, he founded his own wood design office. In 1978, he was appointed to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. There he headed the timber construction laboratory (IBOIS / EPFL) which, according to the ideas of the university president, Maurice Cossandey, was to give a new impetus to timber construction in Switzerland. Peer Haller, Professor from the Institute metal and timber construction at the University of Dresden University of Technology in Germany, says that he is one of the most important personalities in the field of timber construction. Neukirchen is a municipality in the district of Straubing-Bogen in Bavaria, Germany. It is located in the Donau-Wald region in the Bavarian Forest. Jean-Luc Sandoz (born 1960 in Montandon) is a French-Swiss engineer and an expert in wood construction. He is the founder of several companies in the field of engineering, industrialization, construction and expertise, all related to wood. Wil Tower
The Wil Tower is a wooden observation tower which was built in the forest of Wil in Switzerland by Julius Natterer. The tower site is located some above sea level. It was opened for public use on 8 July 2006. Construction The tower is an open structure, rising on 6 slanted columns from three equidistant ground support points. A circular stairway (189 steps) rises in the center of the columns, opening onto a roofed observation deck.
