Julius Fure
Julius Fure (19 December 1931 – 18 March 2006) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He served as mayor of Selje municipality from 1968 to 1971 and 1976 to 1982. He was also elected to the county council. He served for the first time from 1968 to 1971, and was elected in 1976 for a protest list. He later sat from 1980 to 1996 for the Conservative Party. He became deputy county mayor in 1984, and then county mayor in 1988. He lost the mayor post following the 1991 elections, but remained a county council member until 1995. At the nomination that year, he was not re-nominated at all, since the nomination committee prioritized Anne Margrethe Øvsthus on the ticket, and Fure refused to be placed lower than first place. Julius Fure was the older brother of historian Odd-Bjørn Fure, and lived at Stadlandet. Conservative Party Of Norway
The Conservative Party or The Right ( nb, Høyre, nn, Høgre, , H; se, Olgešbellodat) is a liberal-conservative political party in Norway. It is the major party of the Norwegian centre-right, and was the leading party in government as part of the Solberg cabinet from 2013 to 2021. The current party leader is former Prime Minister Erna Solberg. The party is a member of the International Democrat Union and an associate member of the European People's Party. Sjur Hopperstad (30 October 1930 – 28 September 2015) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. A farmer from Vangsnes, he was a member of Balestrand municipality council from 1960 to 1964. Fjord1 Fylkesbaatane (formerly known as Fylkesbaatane i Sogn og Fjordane and Nordre Bergenhus Amts Dampskibe) is a Norwegian transport company. It is a subsidiary of the Fjord1 Nordvestlandske conglomerate and primarily runs ferry, passenger and freight traffic in Vestland county. The company was founded in 1858 under the name Nordre Bergenhus Amts Dampskibe and the first two ships SS ''Framnæs'' and SS ''Fjalir'' were purchased that year. The company was publicly owned as it has remained since. From 1896 to 1903 later Norwegian Prime minister Christian Michelsen was director. Selje
Selje (municipality) was a municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway and was located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. The village of Selje was the administrative center this municipality. On 1 January 2020 the municipality became part of the new Stad Municipality in the newly formed Vestland county. Selje municipality had been located at the northwesternmost part of Sogn og Fjordane county. Most of the municipality was located on and around the Stadlandet peninsula as well as some small surrounding islands such as Selja and Barmøya. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 317th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Stad (peninsula)
Stad or Stadlandet is a peninsula in Stad Municipality in the northwestern part of the Nordfjord district in Vestland county in Norway. The peninsula is considered the dividing point between the Norwegian Sea to the north and the North Sea to the south. The name is sometimes also written as ''Stadt'', ''Statt'', or ''Statlandet'' (not to be confused with the similar German word '' Stadt''), because the Norwegian pronunciation of the ''d'' in this case is as a ''t''. The name could be translated as "''the land of places''" or ''"the land of towns''". Some of the larger villages on the peninsula include Ervik (northwestern tip), Borgundvåg and Leikanger (northeastern side), and the village of Selje (southwestern side).
