Niger River
The Niger River ( ; ) is the main river of West Africa, extending about . Its drainage basin is in area. Its source is in the Guinea Highlands in south-eastern Guinea near the Sierra Leone border. Shehu Shagari
Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari (25 February 1925 – 28 December 2018), titled Turakin Sokoto from 1962, was the first democratically elected President of Nigeria, after the transfer of power by military head of state General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1979 giving rise to the Second Nigerian Republic. An experienced politician, he briefly worked as a teacher before entering politics in 1951; and was elected into the House of Representatives in 1954. Eko Bridge
Eko Bridge is one of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the others are the Third Mainland and Carter bridges. The bridge was built in 1975 and is the shortest of the three bridges linking Lagos Island to mainlaind. Eko bridge was made to convey citizens faster. Ajaokuta Steel Mill
Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) popularly known as Ajaokuta Steel Mill is a steel mill in Nigeria, located in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, Nigeria. Built on a site starting in 1979, it is the largest steel mill in Nigeria, and the coke oven and byproducts plant are larger than all the refineries in Nigeria combined. However, the project was mismanaged and remains incomplete 40 years later. Agege Motor Road
Agege is a suburb and local government area in the Ikeja Division of Lagos State, Nigeria. Etymology When the kolanut plantations in the Agege area started to flourish it attracted huge settlements. Agege experienced rapid development and became a powerful center of the kolanut trade. These settlements attracted different people of different backgrounds and interests such as laborers, and most of these were Hausa. Whenever the Yorubas needed labourers for jobs such as cutting of trees, they would engage the services of the Hausa people. Because of this work the immediate area where the Hausas lived was named ‘Ilu Awon Ageigi’ which translates as ‘Town (Ilu) of the tree cutters’. The name Agege was thus formed out of the word Ageigi. Oshodi–Apapa Expressway
The Oshodi–Apapa Expressway was constructed between 1975 and 1978 as a major route to Tincan and Apapa Port and also a major route into the country from Murtala Mohammed International Airport. As a result of neglect and so many years of the expressway, it however virtually collapsed, causing the drainage system to also collapse completely. Reconstruction The Goodluck Jonathan led administration approved contracts for the reconstruction of the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway in August 2013. The contract for the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway was granted to Julius Berger Nigeria PLC for N15 million and a 15-month completion term. After the 2015 general elections, however, work on the road came to a halt. The Dangote Group advocated the Buhari-led Government in 2017 that the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway be repaired.
