Julie Doiron
Julie Doiron (born June 28, 1972) is a Canadian singer-songwriter of Acadian heritage. She has been the bass guitarist and co-vocalist for the Canadian indie rock band Eric's Trip since its formation in 1990. She has released ten solo albums, beginning with 1996's '' Broken Girl'', and is also the lead singer for the band Julie and the Wrong Guys. Career Doiron started playing guitar (later switching to bass) in Eric's Trip at the age of 18, having joined the band at the insistence of her then-boyfriend, Eric's Trip guitarist Rick White. Shortly before the band's break-up in 1996, she released a solo album under the name Broken Girl, which followed two previous 7-inch EPs ("Dog Love, Pt. 2" & "Nora") also released under that name. SappyFest
SappyFest is an annual independent arts and music festival held in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. Started by Paul Henderson, Jon Claytor, and musician Julie Doiron as an extension of Sappy Records, the festival launched 2006. The festival is produced by Sappy Records in partnership with OK.Quoi?! Contemporary Arts Festival, Struts Gallery, and the Faucet Media Arts Centre. SappyFest draws musicians and audience members alike from across the continent. Many Sackville residents volunteer their time to SappyFest, either by billeting visitors, working security, taking tickets, or taking on a slew of other tasks. ''The Grand Bounce'' is the third solo album by Gord Downie, the lead singer of The Tragically Hip. It was released on 8 June 2010. Battle Of The Nudes (album)
''Battle of the Nudes'' is the second solo album by Gordon Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip. It was released in 2003. Most of the tracks are recordings of songs written by Downie with heavy rock accompaniment. Downie's backing band, credited as "The Country of Miracles", included Julie Doiron, Josh Finlayson and members of The Dinner Is Ruined (Dale Morningstar and Dave Clark). Production and marketing The album was recorded and mixed by Morningstar. The cover artwork was created by Montreal artist Jon Claytor. To overcome the problem of fans creating bootleg recordings instead of buying the CD, Downie collaborated with MapleMusic Recordings to create video recordings of concerts performed in support of the album. ''Coke Machine Glow'' is the first solo album released by Gord Downie, the singer for The Tragically Hip. It was released in 2001. Early copies of the album were released as a joint package with a book by Downie, also titled ''Coke Machine Glow''. The book included the song lyrics from the album and other poetry. The book included photographs by Toronto-based artist Michael Adamson. As a result of the album's sales, the book is one of the best-selling volumes of poetry ever published by a Canadian writer. Downie's backing band on ''Coke Machine Glow'' was credited as "the Goddamned Band". Participating musicians included Julie Doiron, Josh Finlayson, Atom Egoyan and members of The Dinner Is Ruined. An online music publication formed in 2002 was named after the album. The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as the Hip, were a Canadian rock band formed in Kingston, Ontario in 1984, consisting of vocalist Gord Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker (known as Bobby Baker until 1994), bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay.
