Juliane Werding
Juliane Werding (born 19 July 1956 in Essen) is a German singer and alternative therapy practitioner (''Heilpraktiker''). Her recordings include "Am Tag, als Conny Kramer starb" and "Nacht voll Schatten" in 1983 (German cover of Mike Oldfield's "Moonlight Shadow"). "Am Tag, als Conny Kramer starb" is the tune of the American song "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by The Band with new lyrics about a different subject. Werding wrote several books and lives in Starnberg near Munich, where she works in alternative therapy. She has two children. In 2009, she quit show business to focus on working as a ''Heilpraktiker''. Essen
Essen (; Latin: ''Assindia'') is the central and, after Dortmund, second-largest city of the Ruhr, the largest urban area in Germany. Alternative Medicine
Alternative medicine is any practice that aims to achieve the healing effects of medicine despite lacking biological plausibility, testability, repeatability, or evidence from clinical trials. Complementary medicine (CM), complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), integrated medicine or integrative medicine (IM), and holistic medicine attempt to combine alternative practices with those of mainstream medicine. ''Heilpraktiker'' ("healing practitioner") is a naturopathic profession in Germany. It is recognized as an alternative and complementary health care profession by German law. "Moonlight Shadow" is a song written and performed by English multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield, released as a single in May 1983 by Virgin Records, and included on his eighth album, ''Crises'', of the same year. The vocals were performed by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly, who had collaborated with Mike Oldfield since 1980. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is a song written by Robbie Robertson and originally recorded by the Canadian-American roots rock group the Band in 1969 and released on their eponymous second album. Levon Helm provided the lead vocals. The song is a first-person narrative relating the economic and social distress experienced by the protagonist, a poor white Southerner, during the last year of the American Civil War, when George Stoneman was raiding southwest Virginia. The song appeared at number 245 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Goldene Europa
Goldene Europa award is the oldest German Television award for artists and entertainers. It was awarded from 1968 to 2003. In the years 1989 and 2001, there were no ceremonies. Since 1981, the gala was broadcast on television. The original sculpture award for the "Goldene Europa" from 1968 is the work of sculptor Herbert Strässer. The award was originally designed with the aim of launching the careers of German artists and producers with their music facing strong competition from the United States and United Kingdom. Therefore, in the early years only German-language hits were awarded. From 1979, the leadership decided to allow foreign artists to win the Goldene Europa reward. The Goldene Stimmgabel (English: Golden tuning fork, Tuning Fork) was an annual prize awarded within the Germany, German music scene from 1981 to 2007. The prizes were awarded according to the number of records sold from October of the previous year to June of the year of the award, as determined by Media Control GfK International, Media Control. It was established in 1981 by Dieter Thomas Heck, who hosted the television gala award show every year since then. It was broadcast on either ARD (broadcaster), ARD or ZDF until the year 2000. From 2001 to 2007 the award show was broadcast by ZDF alone. In 2008, ZDF decided not to present the award and did not announce whether they would be resumed later, discontinued, or replaced with another award. ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services – in particular the introduction of a joint television network.
