Julian Simmonds
Julian Graham John Simmonds (born 29 August 1985) is a former Australian politician who was a member of the House of Representatives for one term from the 2019 federal election, representing the Division of Ryan in Queensland, until his defeat at the 2022 Australian federal election. He is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland and sat with the Liberal Party in federal parliament. He previously served on the Brisbane City Council from 2010 to 2019. Early life Simmonds was born in Brisbane, Queensland. He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Journalism from the University of Queensland. 2012 Brisbane City Council Election
Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday, 28 April 2012 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in a landslide re-election of the Liberal National Party (previously represented in Queensland as the Liberal Party), increasing their representation by two wards. Urannah Dam
The Urannah Dam is a project being built by project proponent Bowen River Utilities, located west of Mackay in the Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia. The dam wall will be built across the Broken River at approx . Alongside the dam will be two pipelines to deliver water to industrial customers, a master planned irrigation scheme and a pumped hydro which will feed reliable energy back into the grid. The dam has been opposed by conservationists, including concerns that the dam would impact the Irwin's turtle. Dam proposal The Urannah Dam is a $2.9 billion project, proposed as a 1.5 million megalitre dam that includes a water pipeline network, an irrigated precinct, and pumped hyro-electricity storage and power generation infrastructure.
