Julia Rios is an American writer, editor, podcaster, and narrator. Biography Born in the United States, Rios is partly of Mexican descent. They have won a number of awards for their work in Science Fiction and Fantasy and has even more nominations. They have hosted a number of podcasts including ''Outer Alliance'' and ''The Skiffy and Fanty Show''. Rios has also been an editor for several of the genres biggest name magazines such as Strange Horizons, Uncanny Magazine and Fireside Magazine. They have also worked as a narrator for PodCastle and Pseudopod. Rios is a co-founders of Fuente Collective. ''Strange Horizons'' is an online speculative fiction magazine. It also features speculative poetry and nonfiction in every issue, including reviews, essays, interviews, and roundtables. Uncanny Magazine
''Uncanny Magazine'' is an American science fiction and fantasy online magazine, edited and published by Lynne M. Thomas and Michael Damian Thomas, based in Urbana, Illinois. Its mascot is a space unicorn. The editors-in-chief, who originally edited Apex Magazine from 2012–2013, chose the name of the magazine because they say it "has a wonderful pulp feel", and like how the name evokes the unexpected. They created the magazine "in the spirit of pulp sci-fi mags popular in the 1960s and '70s." ''PodCastle'' is a weekly audio fantasy fiction podcast. They release audio performances of fantasy short fiction, including all the subgenres of fantasy, including magical realism, urban fantasy, slipstream, high fantasy, and dark fantasy. As of 2022, Shingai Njeri Kagunda and Eleanor R. Wood share editing duties with support from Assistant Editor Sofía Barker and audio producer Peter Adrian Behravesh, and the show is mainly hosted by Matt Dovey, with occasional guest hosts. ''Pseudopod'' is a podcast launched on 11 August 2006 which presents horror genre short stories. It is part of Escape Artists, Inc. which also produces the podcasts ''Escape Pod'', ''PodCastle'' and ''Cast of Wonders''. Pseudopod is co-edited by Shawn M. Garrett and Alex Hofelich (the latter became co-editor in May 2015) and hosted by Alasdair Stuart. It was previously edited by Ben Phillips until the end of 2010. Wil Wheaton calls ''Pseudopod'' "pretty damn awesome" and cites it as an example of how new media is changing the broadcast landscape. The stories it runs are usually between 2000 and 6000 words in length. It also irregularly releases shorter flash fiction pieces and movie reviews.
