Julia Lang (actress)
Julia Lang was a film and radio actress and radio presenter. Born in London, she is best known for presenting the BBC radio programme ''Listen with Mother''. The theme music for the programme was the ''Berceuse'' from Gabriel Fauré's ''Dolly Suite'' for piano duet, Op. 56. A recording was often used but in an Anglia Television interview in the 1990s, Lang said that during her tenure, when she had finished reading the story, she had to get up (noiselessly), rush across to the piano in the studio and play the Berceuse live. She married William Shine in 1942. They appeared together in the 1948 film The Red Shoes as "a balletomane" and "a balletomane's mate". Their marriage was dissolved in 1949. She had a son, Stephen. Lang died on 1 April 2010 at the age of 88 in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. "The Idiot's Lantern" is the seventh episode of the second series of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast on 27 May 2006 on BBC One. ''Standing in the Dark'' is the debut studio album by Platinum Blonde. Released by Columbia/CBS Records Canada in 1983, it expanded on the band's original six-track EP. With the addition of four new tracks ("Standing in the Dark", "Sad Sad Rain", "Cast A Shadow", and "Leaders In Danger"), the album garnered the band their first taste of attention after going triple platinum in Canada. Platinum Blonde, known briefly as The Blondes, is a Canadian rock band that formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1979. Vocalist Mark Holmes has been the only consistent member of the band since its inception. They are an image conscious band that took advantage of the advent of the music video. John Wood (5 July 1930 – 6 August 2011) was an English actor, known for his performances in Shakespeare and his lasting association with Tom Stoppard. In 1976, he received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in Stoppard's ''Travesties''. He was nominated for two other Tony Awards for his roles in '' Sherlock Holmes'' (1975) and ''Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead'' (1968). ''Nobody's Fools'' is the sixth studio album by the British rock group Slade. It was released in March 1976 and reached No. 14 in the UK. The album was produced by Chas Chandler. Musically, the album showed the band dropping their "loud" and "rocky" type songs, as they moved towards a more "American" soul/ pop sound. Tasha Thomas was also hired to provide backing vocals—the first Slade album to feature female backing. British fans accused the band of selling out and forgetting about their fan base in the UK, as the band had been in the U.S. for most of 1975, trying to crack the market.
