Juice Aleem
Juice Aleem is a rapper born in Birmingham, in ceremonial counties West Midlands, England. Biography After putting years of energy into the Birmingham hip hop scene, Juice's "Ghetto Grammer" freestyle rap sessions started featuring such other future stars as Ty, Skinnyman and MPHO. In 1996 Will Ashon started up his new Ninja Tune-backed label Big Dada and planned a roster of performers. Bandit of Birmingham's MSI/Asylum crew told Ashon about Aleem. Ashon was impressed with the music and agrees to have Aleem on board. This resulted in the first release of the now iconic record label. In 1997 Juice featured on Big Dada's first ever release, ''Misanthropic'', under the pseudonym "Alpha Prhyme", a collaboration between himself and Luke Vibert. Ninja Tune is an English independent record label based in London. It has a satellite office in Los Angeles. It was founded by Matt Black and Jonathan More (better known as Coldcut) and managed by Peter Quicke and others. Inspired by a visit to Japan, Black and More created Ninja Tune in 1990 as a means to escape the creative control of major labels, and as a vehicle to release music of an underground nature, free from the constraints they experienced in their brief stints with Arista and Big Life. Will Ashon
Will Ashon (born 1969) is an English writer and novelist, former music journalist and founder of the Big Dada imprint of Ninja Tune records. Ashon was educated at Countesthorpe Community College and Balliol College, Oxford. In the mid-1990s he worked as a music journalist specialising in hip hop for publications including ''Trace'', '' Muzik'' and ''Hip Hop Connection''. In 1997 he started the record label Big Dada Recordings in conjunction with Ninja Tune, signing and releasing albums by artists including Roots Manuva, Diplo, Speech Debelle and Wiley.
