Juhan Luiga
Juhan Luiga (31 March 1873 – 19 October 1927) was an Estonian psychiatrist, physician, author, publicist, and politician. He was a member of I Riigikogu. Career Juhan Luiga was born in Ropka in 1873. He attended primary and secondary schools in Tartu. In 1899, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu. In 1904, he became one of the first Estonian psychiatrists, Doctor of Medicine. From 1899 until 1908, he worked as an assistant at the Nervous and Mental Diseases Clinic of the University of Tartu. From 1908 until 1927, he worked in private practice in Tallinn, as well as a city and school physician. During World War I, he worked as a military doctor. From 1917–1918, he was in Finland, as the chief marshal of the liaison detachment of the Estonian division. In 1918, he was also the chief marshal in the Estonian Army for a period of several months. Erna Villmer
Erna Villmer (also Willmer; 1 March 1889 in Tallinn – 16 June 1965 in Tallinn) was an Estonian actress. Early life Erna Villmer was born in 1889 on February 17 in Tallinn. Father Juhan Villmer was from Paldisk, mother Anette Krusbach was from Tallinn. At the age of 7, she started attending the High School for Girls in the city. The first personal gaming experience, or the explosion of inspiration that Erna Villmer later remembers, was born in a German language class, when she had to read a poem. Something in her voice, expression or gesture deserved the admiration of the whole class and the teacher made a complimentary comment. After that remark from the teacher, she admitted to his mother that she wanted to become an actor. The mother then said that an actor must have a beautiful face and first of all a beautiful figure. Jaan Koort
Jaan Koort (6 November 1883, Sootaga Parish (Äksi), Tartu – 14 October 1935 in Moscow) was an Estonian sculptor, painter and ceramicist. Born on 6 November in Tartu, he was the thirteenth child of village farmers Susanna-Marie and Jaan Koort. He studied at Orge village school. During the period from 1896 to 1900 he studied at the Tartu city school. In 1901, he participated in the German Craftsmen Society's drawing courses. His studies continued at the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design (1902–1905), where he studied painting and sculpture. Raadi Cemetery
The Raadi cemetery, ( et, Raadi kalmistu) is the oldest and largest burial ground in Tartu, Estonia, dating back to 1773. Many prominent historical figures are buried there. It is also the largest Baltic German cemetery in Estonia after the destruction of Kopli cemetery in Tallinn. Until 1841, it was the only cemetery in the town. The cemetery currently includes several smaller graveyard sections, the oldest of which date back to 1773.
