The Letter (Judy Garland Album)
''The Letter'' is a 1959 concept album by American vocalist Judy Garland arranged by Gordon Jenkins. Chronicling a relationship, the album features John Ireland. Reception The Allmusic review by John Bush awarded the album three stars and said "Jenkins' ambitious concept was written well and executed perfectly, and no one was better than Garland for a dramatic romantic role encompassing hope and humor...''The Letter'' suffers, as all but the best concept albums do. Ireland is no match for Garland...and the few audio concepts on display tend toward gimmicks. In all, ''The Letter'' is a fair concept album, its interruptions annoying but its overall power raised by the twin talents of Garland and Jenkins...The original three-track stereo recording is exquisite, and upon its initial release, special copies of "the letter" were placed in envelopes and taped to the front of each record jacket". Track listing # "Beautiful Trouble" - 4:18 # "Love in the Village" - 4:32 # "Charley's Blue ...

''"Live" at the London Palladium'' is a live album by American singers and actresses Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli, released in 1965 by Capitol Records. At the time of the release, Minnelli was acclaimed for her performance in the leading role in ''Flora, The Red Menace,'' and the album achieved the feat of bringing the singer together with her mother, the also singer and actress Judy Garland, for the first time in a "live" concert at the London Palladium theater. The recording took place on November 8 and 15, 1964, with the latter also being filmed and becoming the 55-minute program that aired on ITV British Television. In an interview, Minnelli revealed that her mother tricked her into doing the shows. Garland asked Minnelli to come to London and perform with her, but she initially refused, feeling that she was too young and unprepared. Garland went ahead and announced the concert to the press, leaving Minnelli with no choice but to accept. She further revealed, "I had ...

Garland At The Grove
''Garland at the Grove'' is a 1959 live album by American vocalist Judy Garland accompanied by Freddy Martin and his Orchestra. The album was recorded at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Reception ''Garland at the Grove'' preceded Garland's famous run and landmark recording at Carnegie Hall by three years. The Cocoanut Grove show featured Garland with Freddy Martin's Orchestra, rather than others like Nelson Riddle or Billy May. William Ruhlmann of Allmusic awarded the album four stars, writing: "from the spring of 1951 on, Judy Garland's reputation rested on her abilities as a live act, but it took another eight years before her first commercially recorded live album was issued by Capitol Records (ST 1118)... The audience is enthusiastic, especially toward the end, when, coming out for her encores, Garland asks for requests and gets plenty. Even without the visual complement (and said to be suffering from laryngitis, which is only occasionally ...

UK Album Charts
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. As of 2021, the OCC still only tracks how many UK Top 75s album hits and how many weeks in Top 75 albums chart each artist has achieved. To qualify for the Offi ...
