Judo At The 2020 Summer Paralympics – Men's 81 Kg
The men's 81 kg judo competition at the 2020 Summer Paralympics was held on 28 August 2021 at the Nippon Budokan. Japan's Aramitsu Kitazono was scheduled to compete in the round of 16 event of the men's 81 kg category. However, he was forced to withdraw at the last minute two days before his scheduled event after sustaining injuries to his head and legs during an accident which happened on 26 August 2021 at the Paralympics athletes village. It was revealed that Aramitsu was hit by an e-Pallette driverless vehicle when he was walking on the Pedestrian crossing and the vehicle was blamed for its technical fault. Nippon Budokan
The , often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Aramitsu Kitazono
Aramitsu Kitazono (born 17 February 1991) is a Japanese visually impaired Paralympic judoka. He made his maiden Paralympic appearance during the 2012 Summer Paralympics. He was set to represent Japan at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the judoka competition but had to withdraw from the event after being hit by a self driving bus. Career He represented Japan at the 2012 Summer Paralympics which was his first Paralympic appearance and competed in men's 100kg event. Daniel Powell (born 22 September 1997) is a British judoka. He won the gold medal in the Men's 73 kg at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is currently ranked number 2 in the -73 kg category in the UK by the British Judo Association. Early life and education Born in Walsall, Powell is from Sutton Coldfield.
