Judith Wright (artist)
Judith Wright (born 1945) in Meanjin (Brisbane) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans installation, video, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking and assemblage. Her work explores universal human experiences of loss, impermanence and vulnerability. Wright’s figurative sculptural installations use theatrical props and lighting to investigate these themes, and reflect her experience as a dancer in The Australian Ballet. Education and career Wright graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 2002 with a Master in Fine Art. Wright has a background in dance, and was a dancer for The Australian Ballet before beginning her visual arts practice in the 1970s. She worked as a lecturer at both the Queensland University of Technology and the Queensland College of Art at Griffith University. She was a Queensland Art Gallery Board Member from 1999-2002. Museum Of Contemporary Art Australia
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), located on George Street in Sydney's The Rocks neighbourhood, is solely dedicated to exhibiting, interpreting, and collecting contemporary art, from across Australia and around the world. It is the only contemporary art museum in Australia with a permanent collection. The museum is housed in the Stripped Classical/Art Deco- styled former Maritime Services Board Building on the western side of Circular Quay. A modern wing was added in 2012. Arts Centre Melbourne, originally known as the Victorian Arts Centre and briefly called the Arts Centre, is a performing arts centre consisting of a complex of theatres and concert halls in the Melbourne Arts Precinct, located in the central Melbourne suburb of Southbank in Victoria, Australia. It was designed by architect Sir Roy Grounds, the masterplan for the complex (along with the National Gallery of Victoria) was approved in 1960 and construction began in 1973 following some delays. The Australian Ballet is the largest classical ballet company in Australia. It was founded by J. C. Williamson Theatres Ltd and the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust in 1962, with the English-born dancer, teacher, repetiteur and director Dame Peggy van Praagh as founding artistic director. Today, it is recognised as one of the world's major international ballet companies. The Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, colloquially known as QAGOMA, is an art museum in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It consists of the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG), which is the main building, and a second gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), situated away. Australian Centre For Photography
The Australian Centre for Photography (ACP) is a not-for-profit photography gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia that was established in 1973. ACP also provides part-time courses and community programs. It is one of the longest running contemporary art spaces in Australia. The Australian Centre for Photography has published ''Photofile,'' a biannual photography journal, since 1983. The ACP is a charity. Due to funding pressures during 2020, it ceased its activities from 16 December 2020 pending a restructure.
