Maverick City Music is an American contemporary worship music collective founded by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay originating from Atlanta. The collective made its debut in 2019 with the release of two extended plays, ''Maverick City, Vol. 1'' and ''Maverick City, Vol. 2''. In 2020, Maverick City Music released two live albums: '' Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1'' and '' Maverick City, Vol. 3 Pt. 2'', with the former featuring the singles, " Man of Your Word" and " Promises". Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great Is Thy Faithfulness is a popular Christian hymn written by Thomas Chisholm (songwriter), Thomas Chisholm (1866–1960) with music composed by William M. Runyan (1870–1957) in Baldwin City, Kansas, U.S. The phrase "great is thy faithfulness" comes from the Old Testament Book of Lamentations 3:23. These exact words occur in both the King James Bible and the Revised Standard Version. History Thomas O. Chisholm wrote the poem in 1923 about God's faithfulness over his lifetime. Chisholm sent the song to William Runyan in Kansas, who was affiliated with both the Moody Bible Institute and Hope Publishing Company. Runyan set the poem to music, and it was published that same year by Hope Publishing Company and became popular among church groups. The Biblical lyrics reference Lamentations 3:22-23. Philip Bliss
Philip Paul Bliss (9 July 1838 – 29 December 1876) was an American composer, conductor, writer of hymns and a bass-baritone Gospel singer. He wrote many well-known hymns, including "Hold the Fort" (1870), "Almost Persuaded" (1871); "Hallelujah, What a Saviour!" (1875); "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning"; "Wonderful Words of Life" (1875); and the tune for Horatio Spafford's " It Is Well with My Soul" (1876). Bliss was a recognized friend of D. L. Moody the famous Chicago preacher. Bliss died in the Ashtabula River Railroad Disaster on his way to one of Moody's meetings. Horatio Gates Spafford (October 20, 1828, Troy, New York – September 25, 1888, Jerusalem) was a prominent American lawyer and Presbyterian church elder. He is best known for penning the Christian hymn '' It Is Well With My Soul'' following a family tragedy in which his four daughters died aboard the S.S. ''Ville du Havre'' on a transatlantic voyage. Thomas Chisholm (songwriter)
Thomas Obadiah Chisholm (1866–1960) was an American hymnwriter, poet, and Methodist minister. Chisholm was born on July 29, 1866, in a log cabin near Franklin, Kentucky, Franklin, Kentucky. He became a teacher at the age of 16. Circa 1893, aged 27, Chisholm had a Christian conversion experience during a revival in Franklin led by Henry Clay Morrison. Following his ordination in 1903, served as a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for one year before resigning due to poor health. After 1909 Chisholm began working as a life insurance agent in Winona Lake and later in Vineland, New Jersey, Vineland, New Jersey.
