Jubilee (DJ)
Jubilee is an American electronic musician. Early career Jubilee began DJing as part of the underground rave scene in Miami, Florida. She moved to New York City in 2003. She primarily plays Miami bass-inspired club music, incorporating 2-step, dubstep, house, and grime into her DJ sets. Around 2008, she began working with Jason Forrest on a label called Nightshifters and also had a party with Nick Catchdubs and DJ Ayres called Flashing Lights. She also collaborated with fellow DJ/producers Udachi and Star Eyes (with whom she released the tracks "Locked" and "Merkwood Estates" on Unknown to the Unknown. She began collaborating with Mixpak, who released her singles "Pull Ova" and "Pop It," the latter from her first EP titled ''Jubilee'', which was reviewed in ''Spin''. A rave (from the verb: '' to rave'') is a dance party at a warehouse, club, or other public or private venue, typically featuring performances by DJs playing electronic dance music. The style is most associated with the early 1990s dance music scene when DJs played at illegal events in musical styles dominated by electronic dance music from a wide range of sub-genres, including techno, hardcore, house, and alternative dance. Occasionally live musicians have been known to perform at raves, in addition to other types of performance artists such as go-go dancers and fire dancers. Miami Bass
Miami bass (booty music or booty bass) is a subgenre of hip hop music that became popular in the 1980s and 1990s. The use of drums from the Roland TR-808, sustained kick drum, heavy bass, raised dance tempos, and frequently sexually explicit lyrical content differentiate it from other hip hop subgenres. Music author Richie Unterberger has characterized Miami bass as using rhythms with a "stop-start flavor" and "hissy" cymbals with lyrics that "reflected the language of the streets, particularly Miami's historically black neighborhoods such as Liberty City, Goulds and Overtown". Mixpak Records is a Brooklyn-based independent record label, founded in 2009 by record producer Dre Skull. The label operates across a range of genres, from dancehall to underground club music, experimental electronic, rap and leftfield pop. Andrae Hugh Sutherland (born 19 July 1988), known professionally as Popcaan, is a Jamaican singer. In 2008, Popcaan joined Vybz Kartel's Gaza Music Empire. In 2010, he released his breakthrough international hit "Clarks" with Kartel, an ode to the popular shoe brand. In 2013, Popcaan signed with Mixpak Records and released his debut studio album, ''Where We Come From''. In 2016, Popcaan signed with Canadian rapper Drake's record label OVO Sound and Warner Records.
