Juanito Rubillar
Juanito Rubillar (born February 22, 1977 in Barangay Central, Mati, Davao Oriental, Philippines) is a Filipino former professional boxer and current WBC Continental Americas light flyweight champions. He is the younger brother of fellow boxer Ernesto Rubillar and older brother of Robert Rubillar. Born in Davao Oriental, Rubillar lives in Sucat, Parañaque, Metro Manila. Professional career A veteran fighter, Rubillar made his professional debut on July 23, 1994, against fellow Filipino boxer Ramil Gevero. The fight ended with a draw, after 4 rounds. Just like Bert Batawang, Rubillar suffered multiple losses and draws early in his career, but did not give up. Bertoldo Batawang, Jr. (born October 26, 1971 in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines), more commonly known as Bert Batawang, is a Filipino professional boxer. Boxing career Early career Batawang began his professional career in 1990, winning against Lolong Quiban by a first-round technical knockout. Batawang suffered multiple losses early in his career, and in 1995, he temporarily retired from the sport after losing a ten-round decision to future WBC Light Flyweight World Champion, Yo-Sam Choi (7-0) of South Korea. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. Gabriel "Flash" Elorde (March 25, 1935 – January 2, 1985) was a Filipino professional boxer. He won the lineal super featherweight title in 1960. In 1963, he won the inaugural WBC and WBA super featherweight titles. He holds the record at super featherweight division for the longest title reign, spanning seven years. Elorde is considered one of the best Filipino boxers of all time along with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and Pancho Villa, flyweight champion in the 1920s.
