Juan Gabriel Medina Herrad (born 16 October 1992 in La Romana, La Romana) is a Dominican boxer who competes as a 48 kg light flyweight. He won the bronze medal at the 2010 World Combat Games and the 2011 Pan American Games. Early and personal life Medina started boxing under the guidance of coach Severino Aquino at the age of 10. He is a military athlete in the Dominican Air Force, with the rank of private. Career 2009 He won the gold medal at the Pan American Junior Championship for under 15-16 held in Ecuador. 2010 Medina competed at the 2010 Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships, being defeated by Indian boxer Devendro Laishram 17–8 in his first fight. He also boxed in the 2010 World Combat Games in Beijing, China, where he won the bronze medal after losing to Zou Shiming of China. Juan Carlos Medina Alonso (born 22 August 1983) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Juan Carlos Medina debuted with Atlas on 31 August 2003 in a league match against Tecos UAG. With Atlas, he made 160 league appearances, scoring eleven goals. In 2008, Medina was transferred to league giants Club América. He had an unsuccessful first stint with América, being loaned out to clubs Monterrey and San Luis. In 2011 Medina returned to América, only to make three appearances in the Apertura tournament, in which the club finished in an abysmal 17th place. After the arrival of coach Miguel Herrera, his former coach whilst at Monterrey, Medina began to see more playing time, and eventually cemented his place in América's starting-eleven. On 26 May 2013 he played in his first league final against Cruz Azul, playing the whole match. América won the final on penalties, and were crowned champions. Juan De Medina
Juan de Medina (1490–1547) was a Spanish theologian, and Spain's ambassador to Rome. Although he is repeatedly quoted and praised by several theologians of his time, little was written about his life. Life He was born at Medina de Pomar in the Province of Burgos (rather than Alcalá, as some writers state). He entered the College of St. Ildefonsus at Alcalá, 20 May 1516, took doctor's degrees in philosophy and theology, and soon after was made canon and master of theology at the university. He was selected as primary professor of theology in the College of St. Ildefonsus in succession to Michael Carasco, whom Cardinal Ximenes wished to be made perpetual Rector of the College. From about 1526 and for the space of twenty years, Medina filled this position. Alvarez Gomez and Andrea Schott state that Medina was buried in the church of St. Ildefonsus.
