Juan J. Colomer
Juan José Colomer (born Juan José Revueltas Colomer in Alzira, Valencia, Alzira, Valencia (province), Valencia, Spain, 1966) is a Spanish composer. Personal life Juan Colomer started his music studies at age eight in his local music school, "Sociedad Musical de Alzira." He continued his studies in the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia, where he graduated in trumpet and composition. In 1990 he moved to Boston where he studied Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. In 1992 he moved to Los Angeles, his actual residence, where he started working as a film composer, as well as arranging and producing for other artists. He has worked and collaborated with artists like Alejandro Fernández, Bebu Silvetti, Juan Carlos Calderón, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Ramón Flores. In 1999 he recorded a CD with his own songs in Spanish, under the name of Bella y oscura, entitled "Reina en prisión" (queen in prison) with Esmeralda Grao as the lead singer. Alzira ( es, Alcira) is a city and municipality of 45.088 inhabitants (62,094 floating population) in Valencia, eastern Spain. It is the capital of the ''comarca'' of Ribera Alta in the province of Valencia. The city is the heart of the second largest urban agglomeration in the province, with a population of over 100,000. ''Raíces, música per a un aniversari'' ( ca, Roots, music for an anniversary), often referred to as ''Raíces'', is a composition for symphonic band by Valencian composer Juan J. Colomer. It was commissioned by the Alzira Musical Society and finished in November 1998. It was eventually premiered on December 21, 1998, performed by the Symphonic Band of the Alzira Musical Society and conducted by Ángel Crespo García, in his home town. Structure The pieces consists of three movements and takes approximately 23 minutes to perform. The movement list is as follows: * I. Sin compás - Moderato - Vivo * II. Adagio * III. Euterpe (; el, Εὐτέρπη, lit=rejoicing well' or 'delight , from grc, εὖ, eû, well + el, τέρπειν, térpein, to please) was one of the Muses in Greek mythology, presiding over music. The Latin Grammy Awards are an award by The Latin Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievement in the Latin music industry.
