Juan Domingo Córdoba
Juan Domingo Córdoba (born 6 August 1972 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina) is a former professional boxer who was a world champion at the light flyweight (108 lb) division. Pro career Córdoba turned pro in 1992 and went 19-1-1 in his first 21 fights, winning in the process the Argentinean, South American and WBC International light-flyweight titles. He challenged Humberto González for the WBC and IBF light-flyweight world titles in 1994, losing by a technical knockout in the 7th round. A second world title attempt in 1997 was also unsuccessful when he lost to Thai Chatchai Sasakul in 1997 for the interim WBC flyweight title. A year later he went down again to light-flyweight and had a successful world title fight for the WBO title against Melchor Cob Castro in his native Santiago del Estero. Gqeberha (), formerly Port Elizabeth and colloquially often referred to as P.E., is a major seaport and the most populous city in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Mzukisi Sikali, (30 July 1971 – 16 September 2005), was a South African boxer who served as a world champion in three different weight categories: junior flyweight, flyweight, and super flyweight. Murder Sikali, who was regarded as one of South Africa's top boxers, was stabbed to death after he attempted to fight off a couple of muggers in Uitenhage, near Port Elizabeth. The muggers were arrested around an hour after the incident; and a mobile phone, which had been stolen from Sikali, was also recovered. La Banda is a city in the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. It has about 95,000 inhabitants as per the , making it the second largest in the province. It is the head town of the Banda Department. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition.
