Juan Carlos Herken Krauer is a German–Paraguayan economist, historian, journalist, writer and professor. His novel "The Amethyst Villa" won the Literature Prize of the city of Asunción in 2004. "Esperando al Quebrantahuesos", his fifth novel, was published in 2019. His most recent academic publications are focused on the globalised "education industry", redefining the accounting identity of "educational capital", by introducing the novel category of "prestige capital". They also propose the concept of "the teacher as the modern Sisyphus", within the context of the prisoner's dilemma approach, in order to capture the increasing constraints and ethical issues overwhelming the modern teacher. The Tebicuary River (Spanish language, Spanish: Río Tebicuary), a tributary of Paraguay River is a river in Paraguay. Data Resources Inc or DRI was co-founded in 1969 by Donald Marron and Otto Eckstein. Marron is best known as the former CEO of PaineWebber and founder of Lightyear Capital. Eckstein was a Harvard University economics professor, economic consultant to Lyndon Baines Johnson and member of the Council of Economic Advisors; he is best known for the development of the theory of core inflation. Gabriel Casaccia
Gabriel Casaccia Bibolini (April 20, 1907 – November 24, 1980) was a Paraguayan novelist. He is considered the father of modern Paraguayan literature. Augusto Roa Bastos, another notable Paraguayan novelist, is quoted as saying “Gabriel Casaccia is the founder of modern Paraguayan narrative, which gives, in good measure, a fundamental character to all of his work and, to its author, the unusual merit of having launched the genre in a country which was fictionally unknown.” Life Casaccia was born in Asunción, Paraguay. Augusto Roa Bastos
Augusto Roa Bastos (13 June 1917 – 26 April 2005) was a Paraguayan novelist and short story writer. As a teenager he fought in the Chaco War between Paraguay and Bolivia, and he later worked as a journalist, screenwriter and professor. He is best known for his complex novel ''Yo el Supremo'' ('' I the Supreme'') and for winning the '' Premio Miguel de Cervantes'' in 1989, Spanish literature's most prestigious prize. ''Yo el Supremo'' explores the dictations and inner thoughts of José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia, the eccentric dictator of Paraguay who ruled with an iron fist, from 1814 until his death in 1840. Roa Bastos' life and writing were marked by experience with dictatorial military regimes. Guggenheim Fellowships are grants that have been awarded annually since by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation to those "who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts." Each year, the foundation issues awards in each of two separate competitions: * One open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. * The other to citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean.
