Joëlle Mélin (born 26 March 1950) is a French politician who has represented the Bouches-du-Rhône's 9th constituency, 9th constituency of the Bouches-du-Rhône Departments of France, department in the National Assembly (France), National Assembly since 2022 French legislative election, 2022. A member of the National Rally (RN), she previously served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2014 to 2022. Political career Mélin, who graduated in medical education from Aix-Marseille University, joined the National Rally (then National Front) in 1993. In France, a municipal council ( French: ''conseil municipal'') is an elected body of the commune responsible for "executing, in its deliberations, the business of the town" (translated). The council must meet at least once a quarter, or at a request from at least one third of its members, but usually meets once a month. The council manages the smallest French territorial community with legal and financial autonomy, the commune. Participation in the Municipal council vote as a candidate or as an elector is a privilege given only to European citizens.
