João Martins (footballer, Born 1988)
João Paulo Neto Martins (born 30 June 1988) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Oliveira do Hospital, Coimbra District, Martins played most of his youth football with Sporting CP, having arrived at the club's academy in 2000 at the age of 12. From 2007 to 2009 he would be loaned to three teams, C.D. Olivais e Moscavide and Atlético Clube de Portugal in the third division and S.C. Olhanense in the second (one league match during the entire season for the latter side). Released by Sporting in summer 2009, Martins resumed his career mainly in the third tier. He returned to division two in the 2012–13 campaign, signing for Associação Naval 1º de Maio. International career All youth levels comprised, Martins won 50 caps for Portugal and scored three goals. Carlos Jorge Neto Martins (born 29 April 1982) is a Portuguese former footballer. An attacking midfielder, he was noted for his long-range shots. His career, during which he represented both Sporting CP and Benfica, was marred by injury and discipline problems. He also played professionally in Spain, with Recreativo and Granada, and amassed Primeira Liga totals of 201 matches and 18 goals over 12 seasons. A member of Portugal's team at the 2004 Olympics, Martins earned 17 senior caps for his nation. Cartaxo () is a concelho, municipality in the district of Santarém (district), Santarém in continental Portugal. The population in 2011 was 24,462, in an area of 158.17 km². The Spain national under-21 football team is the national under-21 football team of Spain and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The team, nicknamed La Rojita (The Little Red ne, competes in the biennial UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Following the realignment of UEFA's youth competitions in 1976, the Spain under-21 team was formed. Spain has a strong record (competition winners five times and runners-up twice); having consecutively won the 2011 and 2013 Championships. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps.
