Jozef Króner
Jozef Kroner (20 March 1924 in Staškov – 12 March 1998 in Bratislava) was a Slovak actor. His brother Ľudovít Kroner, daughter Zuzana Kronerová, and wife Terézia Hurbanová-Kronerová were also actors. He starred in the Oscar-winning film ''The Shop on Main Street'', and in more than 50 other Slovak films, as well as in several Czech, Bulgarian and Hungarian productions. He never studied acting; his career started in amateur theater troupes. His biography ''Jozef Kroner's Tracks'' (''Trate Jozefa Kronera'') was produced by director Fero Fenič in 1987. Jozef Kroner is also an author of several mostly autobiographic books. The Man Who Lies
''The Man Who Lies'' (french: L'Homme qui ment, sk, Muž, ktorý luže) is a 1968 French-Czechoslovak drama art film directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet. It was entered into the 18th Berlin International Film Festival, where Jean-Louis Trintignant won the Silver Bear for Best Actor award. Plot In a small European town that had been occupied by the German Army during the Second World War a man turns up calling himself sometimes Jean and sometimes Boris, claiming that he had been active in the Resistance. He suffers flashbacks that disconcertingly reveal incompatible memories of his role, as sometimes he is the hero Jean, shot by the Germans, and sometimes he is the traitor Boris. Nobody in the town admits to remembering him, which increases his alienation and his urge to gain recognition. ''The Shop on Main Street'' (Czech/ Slovak: ''Obchod na korze''; in the UK ''The Shop on the High Street'') is a 1965 Czechoslovakian film about the Aryanization program during World War II in the Slovak State. The film was written by Ladislav Grosman and directed by Ján Kadár and Elmar Klos. It was funded by the Czechoslovakian central authorities (as were all films under the Communist regime), produced at the Barrandov Film Studio in Prague, and filmed with a Slovak cast on location in the town of Sabinov in north-eastern Slovakia and on the Barrandov sound stage. It stars Jozef Kroner as the Slovak carpenter Tóno Brtko and Polish actress Ida Kamińska as the Jewish widow Rozália Lautmannová.
