Jovan Tomić
Jovan Tomić (9 May 1869 in Nova Varoš – 22 July 1932 in Belgrade) was Serbian historian, academic and the former director of the National Library of Serbia from 1903 to 1927. Biography Tomić was born in Nova Varoš in the Zlatibor District of western Serbia. He attended high school in Kragujevac and determined early that his destiny was in historical research, education and record-keeping. He attended the Grandes écoles, today's University of Belgrade, from which he earned a bachelor's degree in 1890. Upon completion of his studies, he taught in Kruševac and Kragujevac, between 1890 and 1894. From 1894 and 1896 he lived in France and Italy where he pursued further studies in library science and professional training as an educator. His experiences abroad were put to good use when he was a professor at the teachers' training college in Aleksinac and the First Belgrade Gymnasium. Nova Varoš
Nova Varoš ( sr-cyr, Нова Варош, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zlatibor District of southwestern Serbia. The municipality of Nova Varoš has a population of 16,638, while the town of Nova Varoš itself has a population of 8,795 inhabitants. History Nova Varoš was founded in the middle of the 16th century. It is associated with the name of Skender-pasha of Genoa. When Skender-pasha, traveling from Bosnia to Constantinople (1530), stopped with his entourage on the plateau below the mountain Zlatar and was delighted with the beauty of this wooded area and the intoxicating smell of pine, he ordered a town to be built there. Settlements soon sprang up on the site of today's Nova Varoš. It was called Skender-pašina palanka (''Skender-pasha's Palanka''). Ljubomir Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Љубомир Јовановић, 14 February 1865 – 2 October 1928) was a Serbian politician and historian. He was a professor at the University of Belgrade since its establishment in 1905, a member of the SKU, Minister of Education, Minister of Internal Affairs, and member of the State Council. Life Jovanović was born in Kotor, Austria-Hungary (present-day Montenegro). He finished primary and secondary school in Kotor. He was educated at the Grandes écoles, during which he left to participate in the uprising in the Bay of Kotor. He graduated in history at the Faculty of Philosophy. Musa Kesedžija, Musa Arbanas ( Serbian and mk, Муса Кесеџија, bg, Муса Кеседжия), also described as Musa the Robber, Musa the Outlaw, Musa the Highwayman or Musa the Beheader, is a popular legendary villain of Serbian epic poetry and Bulgarian and Macedonian folklore. Djemo The Mountaineer
Djemo the Mountaineer ( sr, Ђемо Брђанин) is a popular legendary hero of Serbian epic poetry who is depicted as enemy of Kraljević Marko and brother of Musa Kesedžija. His figure might be based on an actual historical person. There are (disputed) claims that he was a member of Muzaka noble family from Albania ( Gjin Muzaka) or maybe the Ottoman soldier Jegen Osman Pasha. Some authors, such as Russian folklorist Khalansky, connected him with Svyatogor, which is also disputed by some other scholars. Aleksinac ( sr-Cyrl, Алексинац) is a town and municipality located in the Nišava District of southern Serbia. According to 2011 census, the town has a population of 17,978 inhabitants, while the municipality has 51,863 inhabitants.
