Jovan Todorovic
Jovan Branislav Todorovic is a Serbian American born artist and filmmaker based in New York. He works in film, photography, and music. He has directed ''The Belgrade Phantom'', and short films ''Juvenile'' and ''You're Dead, America''. Early life and education Jovan Todorovic was born on October 13, 1979, in Belgrade, Serbia and grew up with his parents Marija and Branislav Todorovic, both mechanical engineers and university professors. His grandmother Natalija Đukić was a concert pianist, his uncle Nikola Todorović a painter and his other uncle Đorđe Todorović a singer. He grew up moving between the United States and Serbia as his parents taught in Universities in the United States and Serbia. While attending West Middle School in Lawrence Kansas in 1993 Jovan was introduced to analogue photography. The Belgrade Phantom
The Belgrade Phantom ( sr, italic=yes, Београдски фантом, Beogradski fantom) is a Serbian historical, drama, thriller and documentary film directed by Jovan Todorović. It was released in 2009. This film combines archival television footage, and current interviews with witnesses and participants of the events from 1979, as well as acting scenes. Plot The film is about Vlada Vasiljević, a citizen of Belgrade, that in 1979 stole a white Porsche 911 Targa S, and then, for about ten evenings drove the police crazy with his reckless driving to the Slavija Square. During an official visit of the president Tito to Cuba in 1979, the attention of the capital was directed to ''the Phantom in the white Porsche''. IDFA Festival
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam. Over a period of twelve days, it has screened more than 300 films and sold more than 250,000 tickets. Visitors to the festival have increased from 65,000 in 2000 to 285,000 in 2018. The festival is an independent, international meeting place for audiences and professionals to see a diverse (in form, content, and cultural background) program of high-quality documentaries. IDFA selects creative and accessible documentaries, which offer new insights into society. Gotham Screen Film Festival & Screenplay Contest
GOTHAM SCREEN is an American cinematic event which became the newest addition to New York City's film festival scene. After its debut in 2007 as a screenplay contest, Gotham Screen, or GSIFF International Film Festival, has been expanded to showcase shorts and feature films. 2012's festival took place in downtown Manhattan, at the Quad Cinema, from October 4–14. This festival gives filmmakers the chance to have their work shown and critically judged in New York. Gotham Screen specializes in fresh voices and perspectives from local, national and international filmmakers. The mission of the festival is to create a positive industry and audience exposure for works that would otherwise not easily get seen. Boy Crisis was an American band that was influenced by the post-disco–post-punk sound of the early 1980s. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Boy Crisis consisted of members Tal Rozen, Alex Kestner, Victor Vazquez, Lee Pender, and Owen Roberts. Victor Vazquez is now an MC and was formerly part of the rap group Das Racist. History Boy Crisis formed initially as a project between Victor Vazquez, Tal Rozen and Alex Kestner at Wesleyan University in 2005, but they did not start playing shows until Lee Pender joined in 2007. Owen Roberts joined later that year. At Wesleyan, they met MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden, and they later played shows supporting MGMT live and remixed one of their singles.
