Journey (comics)
''Journey: The Adventures of Wolverine MacAlistaire'' is an independent comic book created by William Messner-Loebs about Michigan frontier life in the 19th century. An ensemble piece, it tells the story of the Fort Miami settlement and the characters, both real and fictional, that occupy it. Among these is the title character, Joshua "Wolverine" MacAlistaire. Publishing history ''Journey'' was first published as a back-up feature in ''Cerebus'' #48 and #49 from Aardvark-Vanaheim, then as a title unto its own, starting with Issue #1 in Mar./Apr. 1983. The 13th issue features an intercompany crossover with Jim Valentino's ''normalman''. After fourteen issues, the series moved to Fantagraphics, which published an additional thirteen issues. Fantagraphics collected the ''Cerebus'' back-up features along with the first four issues as ''Tall Tales'' (January 1987), and included a ''Journey'' story in ''Anything Goes!'' #5 (Oct. 1987). Aardvark-Vanaheim
Aardvark-Vanaheim is a Canadian independent comic book publisher founded in 1977 by Dave Sim and Deni Loubert and is best known for publishing Sim's ''Cerebus''. For a brief time, the company also published other titles, sometimes under the name Aardvark One International. This was mainly in the early 1980s, and most of these titles moved to Renegade Press. Since the 1980s the majority of titles published by the company were related to ''Cerebus'', although since the final issue of ''Cerebus'' was published, A-V has gone on to publish other works by Sim, including '' glamourpuss''. In July 1984, Aardvark-Vanaheim was threatened with possible legal action by Marvel Comics over a parody of Marvel's Wolverine character in ''Cerebus''. Comics Set In The 19th Century

In comics in the United States, a trade paperback (shortened: TPB or trade) is a collection of stories originally published in comic books, reprinted in book format, usually presenting either a complete miniseries, a story arc from a single title, or a series of stories with an arc or common theme. A trade paperback may reproduce the stories either at the same size in which they were originally presented (in comic book format), in a smaller "digest-sized" format, or a larger-than-original hardcover. This article applies to both paperback and hardcover collections. In the comics industry, the term "trade paperback market" may refer to the market for any collection, regardless of its actual cover. A trade paperback differs from a graphic novel in that a graphic novel is usually original material. Normalman
normalman is a limited series of American comic books created by Jim Valentino. It began in November 1983 as a four-page story in ''Cerebus'' #56 and #57 before being launched as a full-color 12-issue series which was published by Aardvark-Vanaheim before moving to Renegade Press. There was also a crossover with ''Journey''. The story of normalman concluded in ''normalman 3D Annual #1'' (Renegade Press). The series spoofed the comics of many comic book companies, including DC, Marvel, EC and Harvey, as well as doing parodies of ''The Spirit'', '' Elfquest'', ''Asterix'', ''Star Wars'', and '' The Wizard of Oz''. Fantagraphics (previously Fantagraphics Books) is an American publisher of alternative comics, classic comic strip anthologies, manga, magazines, graphic novels, and the erotic Eros Comix imprint. History Founding Fantagraphics was founded in 1976 by Gary Groth and Michael Catron in College Park, Maryland. Jim Valentino (born October 28, 1952) is an American writer, penciler, editor and publisher of comic books, best known for his 1990–1992 work on ''Guardians of the Galaxy'' for Marvel Comics, and for co-founding Image Comics, a company publishing creator-owned comics. At Image Comics, Valentino produced books such as the superhero vigilante series ''ShadowHawk'', and the 1997 semi-autobiographical black and white book '' A Touch of Silver''.
