Community Health
Community health refers to simple health services that are delivered by laymen outside hospitals and clinics. Community health is also the subset of public health that is taught to and practiced by clinicians. Community health volunteers and community health workers work with Primary Care Providers to facilitate entry into, exit from and utilization of the formal health system by community members. Community health volunteers are members of the local community who have considerable knowledge of the health services available to the community and are used to identify and link beneficiaries or those in need and the registered providers. Pascal James Imperato (born January 13, 1937) is a doctor and professor of tropical medicine and public health and an author on diverse subjects including public health, traditional medicine, African art, history and science fiction.
