Jouko Kajanoja
Jouko Kajanoja (born 1942) is a Finnish economist and politician who served as minister of labour between 1981 and 1982. He was a member of the Communist Party which he headed from 1982 to 1984. Biography Kajanoja was born in 1942. He joined the Communist Party being part of the fraction which was the third group after the moderates and doctrinaire faction. In March 1981 he was appointed minister of labour to the cabinet led by Mauno Koivisto. He also served in the same post in the next cabinet led by Kalevi Sorsa. On 15 May 1982 he became the chairman of the Communist Party. He was elected to the post as a result of the conflicts between the leaders of two major fractions of the party. Kajanoja was supported by the Soviet Communist Party during his tenure which ended in June 1984 when Arvo Aalto won the election. The Communist Party of Finland ( fi, Suomen Kommunistinen Puolue, SKP; sv, Finlands Kommunistiska Parti) was a communist political party in Finland. The SKP was a section of Comintern and illegal in Finland until 1944. The SKP was banned by the state from its founding and did not participate in any elections with its own name. Instead, front organisations were used. In the 1920s the communists took part in the Socialist Workers' Party of Finland (1920–1923) and the Socialist Electoral Organisation of Workers and Smallholders (1924–1930). Both of them were also banned. In 1944, a new front, Finnish People's Democratic League was formed. Arvo Aalto
Arvo Aalto (born 13 July 1932) is a Finnish politician who headed the Communist Party between 1984 and 1988. He also served as the labour minister from 1977 and 1981. Early life and education Aalto was born in Rovaniemi on 13 July 1932. He graduated from Sirola college in 1956 and also, received education at Moscow Party School in the period 1961–1962. Career Aalto joined the Communist Party in 1951. He was its secretary in Lapland in 1956. He was elected as the general secretary of the party in 1969 replacing Ville Pessi in the post. Aalto served in the post until 1984 with some interruptions. Aalto was the minister of labour from 1977 to 1981. Democratic Alternative ( fi, Demokraattinen Vaihtoehto sv, Demokratiskt Alternativ) was a political party in Finland. Deva was formed in 1986 by expelled members of the Communist Party of Finland and its mass front Finnish People's Democratic League. In 1990 Deva disintegrated and its members joined the Left Alliance, a merger of SKP and SKDL, founded earlier that year. Deva consisted of Communist Party of Finland (Unity), Revolutionary Youth League, Women's Democratic Action Centre, Socialist Students' League and Democratic Civic Association.
