Josías Manzanillo
Josías Manzanillo Adams (born October 16, 1967) is a Dominican former Major League Baseball pitcher who played in the major leagues from to . In , Manzanillo suffered a grisly injury while pitching for the Seattle Mariners. Not wearing a protective cup, he was struck in the groin by a line drive off the bat of Manny Ramírez which ruptured his testicles. Manzanillo managed to recover the baseball, throw out Jim Thome at home plate and sprint off the field under his own power before undergoing emergency reconstructive surgery. On December 13, 2007, Manzanillo was one of many athletes mentioned in the detailed Mitchell Report by former Senator George Mitchell. In the report, former New York Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski claimed that in 1994 Manzanillo asked Radomski to inject him with the steroid Deca-Durabolin, which Radomski did. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Minor leagues are professional sports leagues which are not regarded as the premier leagues in those sports. Ravelo Manzanillo Adams (born October 17, 1963) is a former Dominican pitcher in Major League Baseball. Career Manzanillo played with the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over parts of three seasons spanning 1988–1994. Listed at 6' 1" (1.83 m), 210 lb. (95 k), he batted and threw left-handed. Manzanillo posted a 4–3 record with a 4.43 earned run average in 53 games for the White Sox and Pirates. He also spent 18 seasons in the Minor Leagues from 1981 to 2005, including stints in the Korea, Taiwan and Mexico baseball circuits. In between, Manzanillo played winter ball with the Leones del Caracas club of the Venezuelan League, and for the Tigres de Licey and Leones del Escogido of the Dominican League.
