José Asunción Silva
José Asunción Silva (27 November 1865 in Bogotá – 23 May 1896 in Bogotá) was a Colombian poet. He is considered one of the founders of Latin American Modernismo. Life Born to a wealthy and educated Bogotá family, Asunción Silva led a comfortable life. When he was just ten years old, he wrote his first poems. In 1882 he traveled through England, Switzerland and France, and in Paris met with other contemporary poets and artists, including Stéphane Mallarmé and Gustave Moreau. His trip to Europe would influence his style, as he incorporated many French themes. However, with the death of his father and the mounting financial difficulties of his family, Asunción Silva found himself obligated to return to Colombia. Incapable of paying his family's enormous debts, Silva accepted a diplomatic post in Caracas. Once there, he was encouraged by his fellow writers to dedicate himself to his poetry. José Leonel Silva (born December 19, 1973 in Tijuana, Mexico) is a Mexican former right-handed pitcher. He last played for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes of the Mexican League. He played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1996, Pittsburgh Pirates from 1997 until 2001, and the Cincinnati Reds in 2002. Silva was drafted out of Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, California. José Luis Silva Araya (born January 7, 1991) is a Chilean footballer, who plays as midfielder for Lautaro de Buin in the Segunda División Profesional de Chile. Club career He began his career in the youth system of Universidad de Chile before making his debut in the 2008 Clausura tournament against Cobresal. In 2009 Apertura tournament he played his second match with Universidad de Chile, scoring a goal against Cobresal. For the 2011 Clausura tournament he played on loan at Everton. For 2012 he was loaned again, this time at Rangers. Licenciado José María Silva (c. 1804, San Miguel, El Salvador – October 16, 1876, San Miguel) was a Liberal Salvadoran politician. He was twice briefly chief of state of the State of El Salvador, within the Federal Republic of Central America (1834-35 and 1840). Silva was born into a well-to-do family about 1804. In 1827 he received a doctorate in law. He was a deputy to the state legislature in 1828, and its secretary in 1829. In May 1829 he asked for a military judgment of the prisoners taken at the capitulation of Mejicanos, in the first phase of the Central American Civil War. In June 1829 he moved to Guatemala, as a commissioner of the legislature, charged along with P. José Rafael Abello Silva (alias: "Mono Abello") was a top-ranking member of Colombia's notorious Medellín Cartel. He was considered among the major drug traffickers in the Santa Marta region and the reputed chief of Caribbean coast operations on the cartel's behalf. During January 1987, Abello was included in a group of 128 major narcotics figures whose capture was ordered by President Virgilio Barco. Although he was captured in Barranquilla during that same month, he was released shortly thereafter, apparently with the help of Miguel Pinedo Barros, a senator in La Guajira and reputed protector of cocaine traffickers.
