José Rojas (footballer, Born 1983)
José Manuel Rojas Bahamondes (born 23 June 1983), known as José Rojas, is a Chilean former footballer who played as a defender. Primarily a central defender, he could also be deployed as a left-back. Club career Rojas has played the whole of his career for Universidad de Chile except a brief stint with Argentine side Independiente in 2006. He has won four league championships with Universidad de Chile, in Apertura 2004, Apertura 2009 and Apertura and Clausura 2011. For the 2011 season he was selected by his teammates as captain, after Miguel Pinto left the club. In 2011, he captained Universidad de Chile to its first international title as they won the 2011 edition of the Copa Sudamericana in Santiago. In 13 February 2023, he announced his retirement after twenty years as a professional footballer. 2011 Copa Sudamericana
The 2011 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes (officially the 2011 Copa Bridgestone Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons) was the 10th edition of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary international club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The winner, Universidad de Chile, qualified for the 2012 Copa Libertadores, the 2012 Recopa Sudamericana, and the 2012 Suruga Bank Championship. Qualified teams Draw The draw was originally to be held on June 14, 2011 at CONMEBOL's Convention Center in Luque, Paraguay, but was postponed by CONMEBOL due to disruptions to air traffic in the region by the volcanic eruption of the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcanic complex, first to June 16, and then to June 21, and finally to June 28, with the venue switched to the Sheraton Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur (that had replaced Copa CONMEBOL) by a single competition. The season was composed of two championships: the Torneo Apertura & Torneo Clasura.
