José Ramón Díaz
José Ramón Díaz Hernández (born January 6, 1973) is a Puerto Rican politician and Senator. Díaz has been a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico since 2008. Early years and studies José Ramón Díaz Hernández was born on January 6, 1973 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. His parents are José Ramón Díaz and Iris Hernández. Díaz studied at the Manuela Toro High School in Caguas. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Since his childhood, Díaz has played both baseball and basketball. He played for the Puerto Rican AA League and the American Legion Baseball. Political career In 2003, Díaz presented his candidacy for Representative of District 31, which includes Aguas Buenas, Caguas and Gurabo. Gurabo () is a town and municipality in eastern Puerto Rico. It is located in the central eastern region, north of San Lorenzo; south of Trujillo Alto; east of Caguas; and west of Carolina and Juncos. Luz Z. "Lucy" Arce Ferrer is a Puerto Rican politician. She is currently serving as a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico since 1996. Puerto Rican General Election, 2008
The 2008 Puerto Rican general elections were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 to elect the officials of the Government of Puerto Rico that would serve for the next four years, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico. The election was won by incumbent Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Luis Fortuño (from the New Progressive Party), who defeated the incumbent Governor, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá (from the Popular Democratic Party). Fortuño received 1,025,965 votes, and Acevedo Vilá 801,071. Also, most of the other positions were won by the candidates of the New Progressive Party, who ended up with a majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
