José María Basanta
José María Basanta (born 3 April 1984) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as a defender. Basanta holds Mexican citizenship. He began his career with Estudiantes in Argentina, after a breakout performance at the 2008 Copa Libertadores he was transferred to Monterrey, where he was an important part in the team's Liga MX and CONCACAF Champions League successes under coach Victor Manuel Vucetich and after the departure of Luis Perez in 2012 he became club captain, he was transferred to italian club ACF Fiorentina following the 2014 FIFA World Cup where he represented Argentina as the team finished runners-up to Germany. Ricardo Antonio Mohamed Matijević (born 2 April 1970) is an Argentine football manager and former player. Mohamed played as a striker, making his senior debut with Huracán in 1988 and being sold to Italian club Fiorentina in 1991. He never played for the side, and served loans at Boca Juniors and Independiente before resuming his career in Mexico. He subsequently started his coaching career in 2003 at his last club Zacatepec, and subsequently won the 2010 Copa Sudamericana with Independiente and three Liga MX titles each with Tijuana, América and Monterrey. InterLiga
The InterLiga was a football competition from 2004 to 2010 between Mexican clubs to determine qualifying spots for that country in South America's premier club competition, the Copa Libertadores. Prior to the 2004 Copa Libertadores, Mexican clubs competed in two levels of competition—first against one another, and then against clubs from Venezuela—for spots in the main competition. In 2004, Mexico and Venezuela were granted automatic entries to the Copa Libertadores for the first time. The Mexican Football Federation decided to create a qualifying league for its two automatic spots, and the first InterLiga was held that January, during the off-season of the Mexican Primera División. The Apertura 2017 Copa MX (officially the Apertura 2017 Copa Corona (beer), Corona MX for sponsorship reasons) was the 78th staging of the Copa MX, the 50th staging in the professional era and is the eleventh tournament played since the 1996–97 Copa Mexico, 1996–97 edition. The Copa MX (formerly called Copa Tower Monterrey, Copa Eliminatoria, Copa México and Copa Corona MX (for sponsorship reasons)) was a Mexican football cup competition that was established in 1907. After a lengthy hiatus that began in 1997, it was restored in 2012. On early editions of the cup, it consisted of both professional and amateur stages. It was the first official tournament that included teams from different parts of Mexico and was considered a prestigious tournament, especially during its earlier years of existence. The original purpose of the competition was to determine a national champion, thus distinguishing it from the local league championship. 2019–20 Liga MX Season
The 2019–20 Liga MX season (known as the Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons) was the 73rd professional season of the top-flight football league in Mexico. The season was divided into two championships—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each in an identical format and each contested by the same nineteen teams. The Apertura tournament began on 19 July 2019.
