José Luis Sánchez del Río (March 28, 1913 – February 10, 1928) was a Mexican Cristero who was put to death by government officials because he refused to renounce his Catholic faith. His death was seen as a largely political venture on the part of government officials in their attempt to stamp out dissent and crush religious freedom in the area. He was dubbed "Joselito." He was declared to be venerable on June 22, 2004, by Pope John Paul II and was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI – through the Cardinal-Prefect of the Congregation of the Causes of Saints – on November 20, 2005, in Mexico. Pope Francis approved a miracle attributed to him on January 21, 2016, allowing for his canonization to take place; a date was determined at a consistory on March 15, 2016, and he was proclaimed to be a saint on October 16, 2016. José Luis ''Garrafa'' Sánchez (May 26, 1974 – January 8, 2006) was an Argentine football midfielder. He played mostly for Deportivo Laferrere and Banfield, and is considered an idol for both of these clubs' fans. His nickname, ''garrafa'', means gas cylinder in Spanish. Career Sánchez started his career in 1993 (aged 19) playing for Laferrere against Almirante Brown in the Primera B Nacional (Argentine second division). He played as a left back, despite being regularly an attacking midfielder for the rest of his career. He scored his first professional goal against Colón in a 1–6 defeat. Sánchez could not help Laferrere avoid relegation and played one season with the team at the lower Primera B Metropolitana. For the 1997-98 season he was transferred to El Porvenir, where he helped the team gain promotion to the Primera B Nacional. José Luis Sánchez Moretti (born 9 January 1970) is a Chilean former professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career A product of Unión Española youth system, in 1989 he played on loan at , winning the 1989 Tercera División. In Chile, he also played for Provincial Osorno, Deportes La Serena, Universidad de Chile, Deportes Iquique and Deportes Puerto Montt. Along with Unión Española, he won the 1993 Copa Chile, scoring 11 goals. Along with Vélez Sarsfield, he won the 1994 Intercontinental Cup. In 1999, he joined Unión Española in the Primera B, winning the championship and returning to the Chilean Primera División. In other countries, he played for Granada in Spain, both Bari and Pisa in Italy and Locarno in Switzerland. International career In 1992, Sánchez represented Chile at under-23 level in the Pre-Olympic Tournament.
