José Luis Caso Cortines
José Luis Caso Cortines (Comillas April 15, 1933 – Irun December 11, 1997) was a Spanish politician, a victim of ETA. Biography José Luis Caso Cortines was born in Comillas in a large family. Even though he was born in Cantabria, he moved to the Basque Country at the age of 22 in the 50s. He was the founder of Alianza Popular in the Basque country in 1982. Later, he was President of the People's Party of Irun as well as Councillor there, where he was living. Jose Luis was retired and had been working as a councillor for the People's Party (PP) in Renteria ( Guipuzcoa) since 1995. The attack took place at the end of 1997. He also belonged to the Board of Directors of Guipuzcoa's PP and the Board of Directors of PP of the Basque Country. He was a married man with two children and a granddaughter. At the time of the murder, he was 64 years old of age. His successor in office, Manuel Zamarreño Villoria, was murdered a few months later, in June 1998. Murder In December 1 ... Comillas
Comillas is a small township and municipality in the northern reaches of Spain, in the autonomous community of Cantabria. The Marquessate of Comillas, a fiefdom of Spanish nobility, holds ceremonial office in the seat of power at a small castle which overlooks the town. The Comillas Pontifical University was housed here before it moved to Madrid, and the old university buildings are among the finest examples of architecture in the town. Besides this, there are many notable medieval and baroque buildings. From the second half of the 19th century, the Spanish royal family started spending their summers in Comillas, and so did large part of the Spanish nobility, whose many descendants still frequent the town every summer. Francisco Javier García Gaztelu
Francisco Javier García Gaztelu (12 February 1966), alias "Txapote", is a Basque separatist militant who is responsible for the assassination of several Basque politicians. He is also known by the aliases ''Perretxiko, Jon'', ''Xabier'', and ''Otsagi'', among others. He was part of the "hard wing" of ETA and never showed any sign of repentance for his actions or condemned those of the group. Arrested in 2001, he currently serves multiple sentences, adding up to 500 years of imprisonment. Criminal activities Txapote began his career, like many ETA activists, through ''Kale Boroka -'' urban violence. He was sentenced to one year in prison for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a French car dealership in his home town of Galdacano in 1987.
